Eastern Illinois dropped the final game of the weekend series against Little Rock. EIU fell to 21-14 (10-5 OVC), while Little Rock improved to 23-17 (11-4 OVC).
The Panthers were unable to generate any momentum on the mound, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits in seven innings. Jack Helms suffered his first loss of the season in the run-rule defeat. Helms tossed 3.0 innings, giving up four earned runs and five hits. Mac Zawistoski allowed three earned runs in 0.1 innings of relief, while Blaine Nunnally allowed four earned runs and three hits in 2.0 innings out of the bullpen.
On the other side, Nic Bronzini earned his first win of the season as he led the Trojans with 5.0 innings tossed, allowing only one run.
EIU earned their lone run in the 3rd inning when Mike O'Conor smashed his 8th home run of the season to deep left field.
Little Rock's offense scored in four out of six innings possible, including three or more runs in three of the innings.
The Trojans jumped out to a quick 7-1 lead through the first four innings. The run-rule performance was highlighted by the 6th inning, where they scored four runs to end the game in seven innings.
In the 6th inning, Little Rock used two doubles, a walk, and a hit by pitch to score four runs to secure the run-rule victory.
