Eastern Illinois softball picked up a pair of weekly awards following the Panthers 4-0 record last week that collected the program's 30th overall win and 20th win in OVC play this season.
Lizzie Stiverson was named the OVC Player of the Week while
Bryanna French was tabbed the OVC Pitcher of the Week. The two will be part of a six member EIU senior class that will be honored after Saturday's OVC doubleheader with Tennessee State.
Stiverson continues to swing one of the hottest bats on the EIU team as she hit .667 for the week. The senior transfer was 8-of-12 at the plate collecting hits in all four games including multi-hit games in three of the four contests. Stiverson scored runs in all four games and drove home runs in three of the four games. For the week she had one double, one home run and four RBI.
French appeared in three games for the week posting a 0.00 ERA as she did not allow a run in 10.1 innings of work in the circle. French picked up saves in relief appearances against both UIC and Southern Indiana (game one of weekend series). Her most extensive relief appearance came on Sunday tossing 6.1 innings of scoreless relief to pick up a win over Southern Indiana. French had four strikeouts while scattering six hits over the three appearances.
