Eastern Illinois women's basketball head coach
Marqus McGlothan has added another guard from the transfer portal to the Panthers 2026-27 roster with the addition of Janyah Bohanon.
Bohanon (6'0") played last season at Buffalo appearing in 22 games with seven starts averaging 5.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game for the Bulls. She scored in double figures four times, recording a season high 13 points against Longwood at the Puerto Rico Clasico. She added another 13 point game against MAC foe Akron and 11 points against Central Michigan.
"Seeing extensive playing time in her first three college seasons, Janyah brings some veteran experience to our program next season." said McGlothan. "She has been a solid player on both ends of the floor in her college career, and I think she will be a phenomenal 2 way player in our league. She has the capability to score the basketball in many ways and I look forward to her contributing to our team's success next season."
A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Bohanon played her first two seasons at Howard University. She played in 29 games as a sophomore on a Bison team that reached the second round of the WNIT averaging 3.4 points per game with a season high 13 points against Coppin State. As a freshman she played in 26 games averaging 2.7 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in a role off the bench.
As a prep player at Warrensville Heights High School, she was an All-Conference selection averaging 19.6 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 3.5 steals and 3.4 blocks per game. She shot 60 percent from the floor as a senior leading her team to a 22-3 record and Division III Northeast 4 District Championship.
She becomes the sixth player set to join the Panthers roster for next season. Bohanon joins junior college forward Itxasne Fernandez Arguello (Otero JC), Nevaeh Dickman (forward - Loyola Chicago) and Lana Koricanac (guard – Troy) as spring additions. They join high school products Alahnna Simpson (La Crosse, Wis. / La Crosse Central HS) and Dalia Grandberry (Arlington Heights, Ill. / Rolling Meadows HS), who both signed with the Panthers in November.
