Eastern Illinois softball closed the regular season with a three game sweep over Tennessee State to lock up their third straight Ohio Valley Conference regular season title.  Senior Lexie Griffin was a huge part of that weekend sweep earning OVC Player of the Week honors on Monday (May 4).
 
Griffin was 7-for-9 at the plate for a .778 average while drawing three walks to increase her weekend on-base percentage to .833.   She hit two home runs on Friday night to propel a 9-4 series opening win and factored into both EIU run-rule wins on Saturday.  For the weekend Griffin had one double, two home runs, nine RBI with three runs scored.  Her weekend slugging percentage was 1.556 while her OPS for the week was 2.389.
 
EIU heads to the OVC Tournament this week in Peoria, Ill., where the Panthers will play as the No. 1 seed with a 12:30 pm game on Thursday afternoon.
