SIUE scored three times in the top of the first inning as the Cougars pulled away for a 16-4 win over Eastern Illinois in the second game of a weekend OVC series at Frost Field.

Chase Bloomer opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first with Ryan Niedzwiedz driving in the next two runs with a home run.Â

After a solo home run by Niedzwiedz in the third, EIU broke into the scoring column with an unearned run in the bottom half of the inning.

The two teams each scored twice in the fourth inning with the Panthers runs coming on a
Peyton Wilson RBI single up the middle and
Ethan Rossi sacrifice bunt RBI.Â

Brett Stanley drove home the final EIU run in the seventh with an RBI double as he drove home two of the four EIU runs in the game.

The Panthers were held to four hits coming off the bats of Stanley, Wilson,
James Love and
Mike O'Conor.

Bryce Riggs (7-2) suffered the loss for EIU. Tim Teixeira (7-5) picked up the win for SIUE.
