For the first time in program history, Eastern Illinois baseball will play under the lights.
Ā
In a historic moment for Panther Baseball, the Eastern Illinois University Board of Trustees has approved the installation of lights at Coaches Stadium. In recognition of a transformational gift and a legacy of generosity, the facility will be renamedĀ Frost Field at Coaches StadiumĀ in honor of Harry and Gladys Frost.
The first game under the lights in the spring was March 24Ā against Northern IllinoisĀ with the official dedication ceremony for Frost Field held prior to the April 11 home game against Southern Indiana.
Ā
The lighting project is designed to enhance the game-day atmosphere, improve visibility, and elevate the overall experience for student-athletes, fans, and the community. The addition of lights will also expand scheduling flexibility and create new opportunities for evening competition.

Harry Frost (B.S., Chemistry, 1960) built a distinguished 56-year career as a chemist with Illinois Cereal Mills and the Cargill Corporation. Throughout his career and into retirement, he remained actively involved in professional organizations and local boards, reflecting a lifelong commitment to service. In recognition of his achievements, he received the Eastern Illinois University Distinguished Alumni Award in 2013.
Ā
Gladys Frost demonstrated an equal passion for service, working for more than 30 years at a law firm in Paris, Illinois, while contributing to numerous local nonprofit organizations.
The Frosts began their support of Eastern Illinois University in 1986. In recognition of their continued generosity and impact, Harry and Gladys Frost were named Eastern Illinois University Philanthropists of the Year in 2017.
Ā
Their legacy now extends to the baseball diamond, where Frost Field at Coaches Stadium will serve as a lasting tribute to their commitment to student success and the future of Eastern Illinois Athletics.
