Panthers Battle Bradley to 3-3 Draw

Eastern Illinois men's soccer battled Bradley to a 3-3 draw Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field as the Panthers closed out their four-match homestand to open the 2026 season

Eastern Illinois men's soccer battled Bradley to a 3-3 draw Friday afternoon at Lakeside Field as the Panthers closed out their four-match homestand to open the 2026 season. 


With the draw, Eastern Illinois moved to 0-3-2 on the season, while Bradley moved to 1-1-4. 


The Panthers finished the match with a season-high 19 shots, including six on goal, while Bradley recorded 10 shots with five on target. EIU also held a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks. 


Bradley struck first just 1:14 into the match when Mitch Coughlon found the back of the net to give the Braves an early 1-0 advantage. 


Eastern Illinois responded in the 13th minute. Nolan Getzinger scored his first goal of the season off an assist from Shuto Ishikawa, leveling the match at 1-1. 


The Panthers continued to pressure the Bradley defense and took their first lead of the afternoon in the 24th minute. Sergej Misic scored his third goal of the season, with Keidin Green providing the assist to put EIU ahead 2-1. 


Bradley answered before halftime when Luca Meyers-Richter scored in the 35th minute off an assist from Fjolnir Sigurjonsson, sending the match into halftime tied at 2-2. 


Eastern Illinois regained the lead early in the second half. In the 55th minute, Green found the back of the net for his second goal of the season, with Ishikawa recording his second assist of the afternoon. The goal gave the Panthers a 3-2 advantage. 


Bradley continued to battle and eventually leveled the match in the 83rd minute when Coughlon converted a penalty kick for his second goal of the afternoon. 


Neither team was able to find the go-ahead goal in the final minutes as the match ended in a 3-3 draw. 


Pierre-Jean Dannenmuller played all 90 minutes in goal for EIU, making two saves. Bradley goalkeeper Marcal Salom Chandre recorded three saves. 


Ishikawa led the Panthers with two assists, while Green finished with a goal and an assist. Misic recorded a goal on three shots, while Getzinger added a goal. Miguel D'Amico led EIU with two shots, while Adam Boykin and Bernardo Hanel each recorded two shots off the bench. 


The Panthers return to action on the road when they travel to Chicago State on September 16 before facing Marshall to close out non-conference play. 


Eastern Illinois will then open Ohio Valley Conference play on Sept. 26 against Western Illinois.
