The Eastern Illinois men's soccer team will continue Ohio Valley Conference play with a pair of upcoming matchups against Southern Indiana and Southern Illinois Edwardsville as the Panthers look to build momentum in conference competition. 

Eastern Illinois will first travel to Evansville, Indiana, to take on the Southern Indiana Screaming Eagles before returning to Lakeside Field to host the SIUE Cougars. 

SOUTHERN INDIANA: The Panthers will face Southern Indiana on the road as they look to earn their first OVC victory of the season. EIU will aim to build on its offensive production while continuing to strengthen its defensive organization against a conference opponent. 

Eastern Illinois will look to Marcos Ayelo, who earned OVC Offensive Player of the Week honors earlier this season following a two-goal performance against Chicago State. The Panthers will also rely on contributions from their midfield and defensive units as they work to limit Southern Indiana's scoring opportunities. 

Lucas Comitre looks to build on scoring his first goal of the season against Western Illinois. Comitre found the back of the net at the 18:41 mark to give the Panthers a 1-0 advantage against the Leathernecks but wasn't enough as the Panthers did drop their first OVC match 2-1 to WIU. 

SIUE: SIUE enters the week with a record of 3-4-1 they will play Western Illinois on Thursday, October 1. Following the road contest against USI, Eastern Illinois will return to Lakeside Field to face SIUE. The Cougars will present another important conference test as the Panthers continue their OVC schedule. 

Playing at home will give EIU an opportunity to compete in familiar surroundings and look to capitalize on its chances in the attacking third. The Panthers will need a strong defensive effort and consistent offensive pressure to challenge SIUE. 

PANTHER OUTLOOK: Eastern Illinois enters the upcoming stretch looking to gain ground in the OVC standings. With two conference matchups on the schedule, the Panthers will aim to put together complete performances on both sides of the ball while continuing to develop consistency throughout the season. 

NEXT UP: Eastern Illinois will travel to Southern Indiana before returning to Lakeside Field to host SIUE. To continue OVC play for the Panthers will have two away matches. EIU will face Western Illinois on October 8. Following the Leathernecks match up EIU will then play UT Rio Grande Valley on Sunday, October 11.
