Biography
EIU (2007-08): Earned Second Team All-OVC honors his junior season after finishing with a 16-4 singles record, going 6-2 at No. 3 and 10-2 at No. 4... that included a team-high 7-1 league mark... joined up with Sean Bush and Felipe Gama at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, earning 1-2 and 8-8 marks, respectively... won 16 of his last 18 singles matches on the season, including eight straight to round out the year....
EIU (2006-07): Competed in 19 singles matches compiling a 12-6 record at No. 6 singles... lost his only match playing up at No. 5 singles... had a string of six straight singles wins late in season... played No. 3 doubles posting a 11-4 record with Chuck Levaque and a 2-1 record with Jeff Rutherford... won six of last seven doubles matches, which was the second highest duo win total....
EIU (2005-06): Compiled a 9-9 record playing mostly at No. 6 singles… also played at No. 4 and 5 singles with a 4-0 mark… teamed with Vuk Milicevic at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles finishing season with a team high doubles record of 11-2....
HIGH SCHOOL: Prepped for coach Joel Stanfield at Morton HS... earned Second Team All-State as a senior, HM All-State as junior... was two-time Peoria Journal-Star tennis ‘Player of the Year’... three-time first team All-Mid-Illini Conference... Morton was two-time Mid-Illini Conference champion... also lettered twice in basketball....
PERSONAL: Majoring in industrial technology... son of Dean & Cathy Nestrud... credits his father for his sports success because “he let me play any sport I wanted and quit any sport I wanted in order to focus on tennis”... most admires Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal because he is “so intense on the court”....
FUN STUFF: ‘JoJo’ has a special talent of being able to play Madden on XBox 360... his favorite t.v. show is Dexter (on Showtime)... choose to attend EIU “because of the small campus, which makes it easy to get around”... the MLK Student Union is his favorite building on campus... since coming to EIU he has learned that “I have a lot to learn”... the name of his weiner dog is ‘Marley’... if he could bring anything to campus from his hometown, it would be “my mom, so that I could enjoy her home cooking”... his advice to a younger athlete is “go to class and put some extra time into the sport”....
BLACKBURN SAYS: “Jordan had yet another very good season for us in 2007... he’s one of our most consistent performers and will become a key part of our lineup this spring.”
