Biography


2012:  Had her final season in a Panther uniform cut short to due an injury... still was able to play in 12 games, including a pair of starts... finishes her career with a .186 batting mark, which includes five doubles and a trio of homers... also earned an all-time base theft record of 5-for-8... OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2011:  Played in 26 contest, but started just three times... a pair of times in right field twice and once as the designated hitter... scored nine times, including touching home as the game winner versus Indiana State on February 27... picked up a stolen base on her lone attempt... walked five times.

2010: Started in 25 of the 43 games played in as a sophomore... played majority of the season at second base, while also starting in right field and as designed hitter a few times as well... batted at the eighth spot in the Panther lineup for most of the season... tallied a .211 batting average, behind 16 hits, 14 RBI, and 10 runs... collected five extra-base hits, including three doubles, while walking nine times... nailed a home run in consecutive OVC road wins at SEMO, including being one of six different Panthers to blast a bomb in the 10-2 rout of the Redhawks... defensively, she assisted on two double plays while recording 56 total put-outs... also set or tied single-game highs in 13 different statistical categories.

2009: Played in 36 games in her freshman season... including starting 17 at either third base, right field, or a majority of the time, as the designated hitter... batted in the sixth thru ninth spots on the lineup... earned 10 hits and 11 runs... nailed her first career home run at IUPUI, with her solo blast coming in the second inning of EIU’s 9-0, five-inning rout... recorded two multi-hit games... touched home for the winning run in the Panthers’ 7-6 win versus North Dakota State in an eight-inning thriller... successfully advanced an EIU runner 33% of the time... went 3-for-6 in stolen base attempts... registered 24 catches, 10 put outs and 13 assisted outs while only commiting one error... also utilized as a pinch-runner 15 times, scoring five times on the year.

HS: Jen was a four-year letter-winner for coach Vondel Edgar at Chatham-Glenwood HS… also lettered four times in tennis and once in basketball… two-time Third Team All-State selection as an upperclassman by the Illinois Coaches Association… Springfield State Journal-Register All-Central State Eight Conference honoree from 2006-08… helped lead Glenwood to three straight conference titles from 2005-07 and a 2005 appearance in the IHSA State Finals… four-year Honor Roll student… also played for the Midland Magic summer team.

PERSONAL: Majoring in elementary education ... daughter of Roland & Carolyn Saucier... her no. 1 sports highlight for ‘Sauce’ was qualifying for the state finals of the IHSA Tournament her freshman year… her parents have been a major influence on her sports career “because they have always been, and always will be, behind me in my athletic interests, and would travel all over the place just so I could play”… most admires former high school coach Vondell Edgar, “because he is really passionate about the sport and knew how to keep things fun and serious at the same time... he not only taught us how to be good players, but good people, too”… her grandfather, Roland Saucier, played semi-pro hockey for the Lewiston (Maine) Cyclones. 

OFF THE FIELD WITH JEN:  Chose EIU “because I loved the team... plus the campus is smaller which makes it easy to navigate”... her favorite food dishes are chicken & pasta... but doesn't care much for cooked veggies... favorite building on campus is the Doudna Fine Arts Building... couple of her favorite hobbies include sports & music... a goal she has set for herself while at EIU include "making the most out of everything"... her must-see tv & film are Lost & The Blind Side... currently driving a 2002 Mazda Protege... her favorite actors are Ryan Reynolds & Sandra Bullock... a class she's recently enjoyed taking was Melisa Ames’ English class... also enjoys playing basketball, tennis & soccer... her advice for a younger athlete is “if something goes wrong, don’t give up... keep your head up and keep trying as things will turn around”... her family owns a golden retriever named 'Buddy'.
