2011 OVC Pitcher of the Week (March 28)

SENIOR (2011): Appeared in 28 games, all out of the bullpen… posted a team-high seven saves, the fourth most in the OVC… recorded a 3.32 ERA on the year in 38 innings of work… finished the year tied for fourth in team strikeouts with 35… held opposing hitters to a .241 batting average… earned OVC Pitcher of the Week honors for the week of March 28 after posting a 0.00 ERA in 5.2 innings the week before while only surrendering one hit, striking out seven and recording two saves… threw a season-high five strikeouts in EIU’s home opener against Chicago State on March 22… finished the season tied for fifth in single-season saves (7) and tied for eight in career saves (9).

JUNIOR (2010): Made 23 appearances, all out of the bullpen… pitched a team-high 40.1 innings out of the bullpen… recorded 33 strikeouts in 40.1 innings of action… posted two saves on the year… tossed four strikeouts on three occasions… pitched 2.2 innings of relief work against Missouri on April 27 while striking out three batters… pitched a season-high 4.2 innings at Eastern Kentucky on March 27, surrendering only one run and one hit while posting two strikeouts.

SOPHOMORE (2009): Made 13 appearances with one start... recorded 11 strikeouts in 24.1 innings of action… compiled a 2.77 ERA in 13 innings of work at home… worked two innings of scoreless relief against Illinois State, Chicago State and Blackburn College… helped EIU to a 31-19 overall record and an OVC Regular-Season Championship.

FRESHMAN (2008): Made five appearances, making one start… made his first appearance and start as a Panther against Monmouth College on April 1… posted a 4.00 ERA with seven strikeouts in nine innings of action… tossed a season-high four strikeouts at Samford on April 27… helped EIU win the OVC Tournament and advance to the NCAA Tournament.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a two-year letterwinner in baseball… also lettered three times in basketball… earned All-Apollo Conference honors in both baseball and basketball as a senior… led Charleston HS to a 20-win season and conference title in 2007… also played for the American League Post 88 Team based in Mattoon… was coached by Derrick Landrus, a former EIU basketball player.

PERSONAL: Son of Mike and Kelly Miller… his father Mike is the head men’s basketball coach at Eastern… both of his parents played basketball at East Texas State… his uncle Greg played in the Toronto Blue Jays’ minor league system after playing collegiately at the University of Texas at Arlington.
