Biography
2007: Brewer played in seven games and started the final three contests of the season… after a number of ailments limited her for much of the regular-season, her presence in the postseason propelled EIU into the OVC Tournament semifinals… she played the entire game in the semifinal loss to Samford after logging 88 minutes in the opening-round win at Murray State… entering the regular-season finale against Illinois State she had played just 63 minutes, but saw 60 minutes of action against the Redbirds, setting the stage for her reemergence in the tournament.
2006: First Team All-OVC… OVC All-Newcomer Team… Brewer started all 20 games, one of four players to do so and the only freshman… first EIU freshman to be named First Team All-OVC since 2004… just the fifth Panther in the OVC era (1998-present) to begin her career with first-team kudos… tallied an assist on goals by Michelle Steinhaus in back-to-back games against Indiana State and DePaul… key member of the EIU defense that shutout seven opponents and surrendered just five goals in OVC play… attempted a shot in six consecutive games midseason… put two of her three shots on goal at Tennessee Tech.
HIGH SCHOOL: Brewer was a four-year letter-winner for coaches Joel Wheeler and Juergan Huettner… 2005 South Seven Conference Player of the Year… Belleville News-Democrat All-Area Honorable Mention as a junior… first team all-conference in 2004 and 2006… All-Sectional honorable mention… played for the Metro United club team, winning the U.S. Club Regional IV championship in 2005… also a member of the U15 and U17 three-on-three national champions in 2003 and 2005.
PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was scoring the game-tying goal with two minutes left against Althoff West her junior year to keep her team unbeaten (22-0-1)… her grandparents have been a major influence on her sports career because "they cheered me to victory and pushed me through losses. They’ve already made reservations so they can see every EIU game and cheer us to victory"… most admires Julie Witt because "no matter what life throws at her she always manages to stay motivated and work hard"… daughter of Kirk and Wendy Brewer… MAJOR: Biology.
