2012: Second Team All-OVC ... OVC All-Tournament Team ... had a fine junior campaign as she played in every game of the year, starting in the outfield in 52 such contests... finished second on the squad off her .304 bat mark, behind 51 hits, 27 runs, and 11 extra-base shots... also second on the squad with four homers... led the base runners with an 18-for-22 mark in base thefts... led the team by being hit by pitch 12 times as the Panthers, as a squad, set a new mark in that stat category... was hit by two pitches in a pair of games, first vs. EKU and again against Butler... had 26 total RBI, coming four short of her season-high... registered 15 multiple hit games and led the squad with eight multiple RBI performances... OVC Top 10 Rankings: Overall -- T-3rd triples (3), 8th in stolen bases (18)... in OVC-only games -- 4th in stolen bases (14)... EIU Career Rankings: 6th in home runs (13) and stolen bases (52)... 7th for runs (94).
2011: First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference ... the sophomore had another steller season in a Panther uniform, leading her squad in batting with a .384 average... that included nailing 63 hits, with 18 extra-base shots... had seven doubles, a team-best four triples and tied for second in total homers with seven... touched home plate an EIU high 43 times... knocked home 30 scores and earned 99 total bases for a .604 slug %... nailed seven game-winning shots over the course of the year... played havoc with the opponent defense as she went 17-for-24 in stolen bases once on base, which naturally led the squad... bettered her single-game career numbers in nearly every statistical category... had zero errors defensively as the full-time outfielder, playing mostly at center... plus she started all 52 games and batted first each time... OVC Top 10 Rankings: Overall -- T-2nd triples (4), T-3rd in hits (63), 5th in batting (.384)... in OVC-only games -- T-2nd in hits (40), 3rd in triples (3) and runs (30), and T-4th in total bases (66)... EIU Season Rankings: 1st in fielding % (1.000/zero errors), 3rd in total bases (99) and runs (43), 4th in slugging % (.604), T-5th in homers (seven), and also T-7th in hits (63)... EIU Career Rankings: 9th in stolen bases (34) and 10th in home runs (9).
2010: Made an immediate impact as a true freshman as she led the team in stolen bases with a 17-of-21 theft total... that mark ended up tying the freshman record set by her senior teammate, Angie Danca, back in 2006... played in 49 games, starting at left field in 47 of those... finished with a .234 batting average off 33 hits, hitting mostly at the top of the lineup... ended up with 24 runs, which was second-best on the squad... tallied four doubles while also being walked 12 times and finished with four multiple-RBI games... blasted two homers on the year, including being one of six different Panthers to nail a bomb in EIU’s 10-2 rout at SEMO, which set a single-game school and league mark... went 3-for-5 at the plate with runners at third base... tied for second on the squad with five sacrifice bunts... OVC Top 10 Rankings: T-3rd in stolen bases, both for the entire season and in league-only games... EIU Season Rankings: Tied the freshman stolen base record.
HIGH SCHOOL: A four-year letterwinner at Alta Loma HS for coaches Jessica Gandara and Dominique Borba... also lettered in volleyball... earned scholar athlete honors as a sophomore, junior and senior... named team captain in her senior season... named a 2009 County All-Star by the Daily Bulletin newspaper... also tabbed first team all-league... earned 2008 ‘Defensive Player of the Year’ as a junior... besides being named a three-time scholar athlete, was also an Honor Roll award-winner each time... played club softball for Victory USA Gold.
PERSONAL: No. 1 sports moment was during her 18U playing days, “after I hit my first homerun, I was able to jog around the bases, because the ball clared the fence and I didn’t have to beat it out for home”... credits her dad for having the biggest influence on her sports career, “because he’s taught me just about everything I know and does anything and everything to help me better my skills”
OFF THE FIELD WITH MELISE: Majoring in sociology... daughter of Rick & Paulette Brown... ‘Mo’, ‘Mogley’ and/or ‘Moseph’ chose EIU “because of the small campus & relaxed environment where everyone knows each other”... enjoys watching CSI & The Ghost Whisperer on tv... also enjoys playing volleyball... loves to eat chicken, shrimp, grits, & Mexican, but not crazy about peas or cottage cheese... credits her secret talent of being able to burp extremely loud... her favorite building on campus is Old Main... a goal she hopes to achieve while at EIU is “to set a new school stolen base record”... if she could bring anything to EIU from her hometown, “it would have to be my two dogs -- ‘Blitz’ (a border collie) & ‘Havoc’ (a rottweiler)."
