2013: Added to her post-season accolades as she was named Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference... tallied 21 starts in the circle, while registering a 13-6 overall mark behind 12 complete games... that included three shutouts behind 137 2/3 innings pitched... retired 126 batters via strikes... as a pitching staff, the Panthers owned the 4th best overall ERA in the nation at 1.59... once again finished with numerous Top 10 marks in single-season pitching numbers, while also ranking among the best in the OVC throughout the season... EIU Career Rankings: Improved in her all-time Panther numbers, including 3rd in winning % (.629/44-26)... 4th in shutouts (14)... 6th in strikeouts (382) and complete games (52)... 7th in saves (3) and innings pitched (482.1)... 9th in ERA (1.98), victories (44), and appearances (89)... and 10th in fewest losses (26) and games started (61)... earned CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District V honors... 2012: First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference... two-time OVC 'PItcher of the Week' (3/19/12 and 5/7/12)... had another fine season for the Panthers as she moved into the role as go-to pitcher... recorded a 17-15 mark, including six shutouts, off 32 starts and 40 appearances... had 231.1 innings of work where she registered 216 Ks, 100 walks and held the opposition to a .228 while sporting a 2.06 ERA... upped her career strikeout numbers with a 15-K home performance versus Butler in late March... twice pitched in ten-inning contests... continued to improve her EIU single-season and career pitching numbers... led the league in several statistical categories at one point in the season... also earned 'OVC PItcher of the Year' and 'OVC First Team kudos from the the College Sports Madness online publication site... OVC Top 10 Rankings: Overall -- 1st in ERA (2.06), strikeouts (216), saves (3), and shutouts (6) ... 2nd in innings pitched (231.1) and opponent batting average (.227)... 3rd in wins (17), appearances (40)... in OVC-only games -- 1st in innings pitched (135.2), saves (3), and shutouts (5)... 2nd in strikeouts (116)... third in ERA (1.70), appearances (25), and opponent batting average (.227)... 2011: Second Team All-OVC... All-OVC Newcomer Team... OVC 'Pitcher of the Week' (3/7/11) ... made an immediate splash her first year in a Panther uniform... finished season with a 14-5 mark in the pitching circle... recorded a 1.61 ERA, retiring 110 total batters via strikes, allowing just 29 walks off 113 innings of work... held the opposition to just 26 earned runs and a .217 batting mark... threw a no-hitter against OVC rival Tennessee State on March 26, retiring eight via strikes and not allowing a single player to reach base as EIU went on to win, 13-0, in the five-inning rout... when teamed with departing OVC 'Pitcher of the Year' Amber May, the EIU duo helped the Panthers own the top team ERA in the nation from March 29 to April 10, with a low ERA of 0.99... naturally Eastern also led the OVC in the same category... threw a season-high 12 strikeouts in a shutout of Butler... in 11 complete games, she pitched a total of five shutouts as a true freshman... OVC Top 10 Rankings: Overall -- 2nd in ERA (1.61)... in OVC-only games -- 3rd in ERA (2.29) and fifth for opponent batting average (.221)... EIU Season Rankings: 8th in winning percentage (.737/14-5)... EIU Career Rankings: Currently ranked 10th for ERA (1.61).
HS: Played softball and volleyball at Elk Grove HS for coaches Ken Grams and Dick Trent... a four-time All-Conference and Daily-Herald All-Area honoree... squad was three-time MSL East Conference Champions... also one Mid-Suburban League Championship... Regional and Sectional Champion... and the 2010 squad advanced to the State Tournament, placing third... graduated with highest honors
PERSONAL: Majoring in elementary education, with a minor in Spanish... daughter of Steve Maday and Glen & Deanna Harker... credits her mom for having the biggest influence on her sports career, “because she has always supported me through everything I’ve done and has pushed me to be the best I can”... played for the Illinois Thunder club team.
OFF THE FIELD WITH STEPHANIE: Chose to come to EIU “because I loved the campus, the softball coaches and the team”... besides softball, also enjoys playing volleyball... currently driving a 2008 Volkswagen Beetle... her favorite food is her mom’s lasagna, while she dislikes dining on steak... her family has three dogs named ‘Zoey, Bama, and Diamond’... her favorite building on campus is the Rec Center... if she could bring anything from home to EIU it would be “my shower and bed”... her advice to a young athlete would be “to do the best you can and never give up... if you want to play in college, you can... you just have to find the right school”... her personal goals while at EIU include “improving my pitching every year and to help the team win the OVC Championship”... her favorite quote is “don’t let the feat of striking out keep you from playing the game”, from the movie ‘A Cinderella Story’.
