Biography


2013:  First Team All-Ohio Valley Conference... played in all 50 contests as a junior, seeing most of her action at second base... batted at the No. 2 spot in all but one game... finished second on the squad in hitting with a .325 clip, which included 53 hits, 11 doubles, a pair of triples and three bombs... earned 26 RBI and a perfect 8-for-8 mark in stolen bases... nabbed 17 multiple hit games, including a team-best 11-game hit streak at one point... also had seven multi-RBI contests and reached base safely in 19 straight games during the season... her 44 runs on the year tied for second most in a single-season... EIU Career Top 10:  3rd in hit-by-pitch (19)... 4th in sac flys (4)... 6th in doubles (29)... 8th in homers (11)... 9th for runs (90)... 10th in sac bunts (26).

2012:  One of three Panthers to play in all 54 games... finished with a .300 batting mark which ranked third on the squad... 48 of her hits included 11 doubles and a pair of triples... registered 17 RBI and touched home 16 times... saw plenty of action at second base, as well as some at third... batted mostly at the third spot in the lineup... finished with 12 multiple-hit and three multi-RBI games... also enjoyed a nine-game hitting streak at one point in the season... led squad with 24 straight games streak of reaching base safely... tallied 91 assists and 100 putouts... OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2011:  Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference ... OVC All-Newcomer Team ... had a steller freshman campaign as she led all Panthers with eight homers, which not only tied the single-season mark but also the all-time tally by a freshman... played in all 52 games, including 50 starts at second base... bat second in the lineup 42 times... finished with a .292 batting average, with 42 total hits, with an addition seven doubles and a triple... tied three other Panthers with 30 total RBI... also notched 75 total bases and a .521 slug %... earned eight multiple hit games and seven multi-RBI games... at one point in the year she enjoyed a six-game hitting streak... ended up walking just 14 times and led the team with 11 sacrifice bunts... went a perfect 3-for-3 in stolen bases... had seven game-winning shots or scoring scenarios on the year... defensively she had just four errors behind 96 putouts and 68 assists for a .976 fielding %... EIU Season Rankings:  T-1st in homeruns (8)... also tied freshman mark for homers (8)... T-8th for being hit-by-pitch.

HS:  Played for coaches Chris Fruehling and Tom Mazzie at Lake Park HS in Roselle... member of varsity softball all four years, as well as the basketball team... also played volleyball her freshman season... starting member of both the softball and basketball squads all four years in high school... in softball alone she was named Honorable Mention All-Area her sophomore year, All-Conference as a sophomore... a unanimous All-Conference honoree as both a junior and senior... had a .501 batting average as a junior... voted team MVP her senior year... named First Team All-Area by the Chicago Sun-Times... MVP of her high school All-Star squad... in basketball she earned all-conference and all-area... also was nominated for the Walter Payton ‘Player of the Week’ award at one point in her career... as a sophomore, was a member of her Lake Park softball squad that not only placed third at the IHSA state meet, but naturally also earned regional and sectional kudos as well... while her basketball squad earned conference and regional titles... member of the Honor Roll.

PERSONAL:  Undecided on a major at EIU... daughter of Jim & Carol Willert... No. 1 sports highlight was “going downstate to the IHSA tournament my sophomore year in high school”... credits her family for having the biggest influence in her sports career, “because they have supported and coached me the whole way and have given up a lot of their time to help me achieve my goals”... also a member of the Beverly Bandits summer softball squad.

OFF THE FIELD WITH CARLY:   Chose to come to EIU “because of the environment, the team, and the coaching staff”... currently driving a 2005 Infiniti g35x... enjoys listening to music and dancing... loves to eat chocolate, but doesn’t care for shrimp... other than softball, she enjoys playing both basketball and volleyball... some of her favorite music groups include Luke Bryan, Brad Paisely, Rascal Flatts, and the Dave Matthews Band... her family’s dog is named ‘Cocoa’, who she wishes she could bring to campus from home... enjoys watching ‘The Office’ and ‘Spongebob Square Pants’ on tv... has already enjoyed taking professor McCausland’s self-defense class... favorite building on campus is the Rec Center... one of her favorite quotes is “you miss 100% of the opportunities you don’t take”... one of her personal goals is “to study abroad in Australia.”
