Biography


2011-12:  Second Team All-OVC ... finished his senior season with the second best stroke average of 73.0 behind 25 rounds... earned seven Top 20 finishes, including twice nabbing individual runner-up honors in consecutive Butler Invitationals in Florida... tied for 17th at the end-of-season league meet... owned a fine career stroke mark of 74.3 as a Panther, behind 85 total rounds and 6,314 shots.

2010-11:  Ended his junior year with the third lowest stroke mark of 76.2... notched four Top 20 finishes... that included a Top 5 mark at the Western Illinois Invite, tying for fourth... also had a season-low three-round five-under-par 211 total at the Butler Fall Invite... tied for 28th at the year-ending Ohio Valley Conference championship.

2009-10: OVC 'Golfer of the Week' (3/31/10)... followed up a nice freshman season by leading the squad with a 74.2 stroke average, behind five Top 20 places...behind one Top 5 and three Top 10 finishes... competing in all nine events, the sophomore had a season-best fourth place, one-over-par 72 score at the Butler Spring Invite... in fact he led all Panthers in three spring meets.

2008-09: OVC All-Newcomer Team... made an immediate impact in his freshman season, earning a spot on the league All-Newcomer unit as he competed in nine events... finished with the second best stroke average, in just his first year as a Panther, behind his 75.2 mark... that includes tying for 21st place at the Butler Fall Invitational as he fired a five-over-par score... also ended up in the Top 25 at the season-ending OVC Tournament, tying for 24th.

HS: Earned two letters as a junior and senior for coach Steve Cribari at Woodlands HS in Houston, Texas... team earned a 5A state championship in 2007, where he tied sixth individually... team was also state runner-up in 2008... earned the October, 2007 school Highlighted Highlander Award... played for Texas squad when they competed in the Scotland Cup... also a Mexico representative to International Cup, where he captured the match play championship.

PERSONAL: Majoring in business... son of Eugenio Parrodi & Beatriz Wiechers... credits his parents for influencing his sports career, “because they are the ones who always supported me, plus they introduced me to the sport of golf.”

OFF THE LINKS WITH GINO:  Chose to attend EIU “because of the good golf program”... enjoys watching former EIU standout Tony Romo play professional football... his hidden talents include playing soccer and pool... also enjoys tennis, watching movies, listening to music and hanging with friends... the name of his golden retriever is ‘Rex’... his advice for a younger athlete is “work hard and never give up”... enjoys eating Mexican and Italian food, but dislikes Chinese dishes... since coming to EIU he has learned “how to interact with people from other places”... his favorite quote is “what doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger”... his goals while at EIU are to “win conference and get good grades to earn my MBA”... if he could bring anything from his hometown to EIU it would be “my family.”
