2011-12 Women's Tennis Roster
Biography
2011-12: Saw limited singles play as a senior, going 3-5 on the year, including an even 1-1 mark in league play... sported a 3-3 record at the No. 6 spot in the singles lineup... saw much more action in duos, going 7-13 overall while playing at either No. 2 and No. 3 alongside Amanda Dibb, Kristen Laird or Jennifer Kim.
2010-11: Finished 5-7 overall in singles, including a 3-4 mark in OVC action... saw play at both No. 5 and No. 6, which included a nice 4-2 tally in the bottom spot... saw limited doubles play, going 0-1 each when teamed with Jennifer Kim and Cara Huck.
2009-10: Registered a 5-9 singles record where she saw most of her action at the No. 6 spot in the lineup... recorded an even 4-4 mark in OVC action... went 7-6 overall in doubles play... teamed mostly with Cara Huck at the No. 2 spot... the twosome went 5-4 in league matches.
2008-09: Annie posted a 9-9 record in singles and posted a 5-7 doubles mark... went 5-4 in singles conference play... played at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions all season... got all five of her doubles wins with Shannon Brooks.
HS: Played for coach Bill Gaffigan at Rochester HS, earning four varsity letters in tennis and two in softball... played at the top of the singles lineup all four years... a four-time all-state qualifier... voted team captain her senior year... earned class salutatorian honors after being named to high Honor Roll all four years of high school... won Illinois State Scholar kudos and was a National Merit finalist.
PERSONAL: Majoring in chemistry... daughter of Jim & Chris Egan... her No. 1 personal sports moment was “winning my very first junior tournament”... credits her family and friends for being the major influence on her sports career “because they always supported me”... admires tennis great Roger Federer, “because he is the ultimate competitor”... her brother, Ben, played basketball at Lincoln Land CC.
OFF THE COURT WITH ANNIE: ‘Bam-Bam’ or ‘A-Dawg’ chose Eastern “because of the size of the campus, and for not being too close or too far from home... plus has a great tennis program”... her advice to a younger athlete is “always try your hardest”... doesn’t care to eat green beans or olives, but loves peanut butter and Thai food... her favorite t.v. and movie are The Office and Casablanca, respectively... would love to change places with Barack Obama for one day, “because he has the potential to do so much”... since coming to EIU she has learned “to get used to walking everywhere.”
