Biography


2013:  Started at first base in 46 games during her junior season... finished fifth on the squad in overall batting, as she earned 34 hits, including seven doubles and a homerun... registered seven multiple hit games and five multi-RBI contests... most of the season she hit in the No. 7 spot in the lineup... finished the season with six career sac flies, which sets a new EIU record... finished season ranked No. 7 in the Panther record books for home runs with 12 all-time... earned All-OVC recognition as a dual-sport member of the EIU volleyball squad... OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

2012:  Saw plenty of action in the infield as a sophomore as she made herself right at home playing 33 games at first base... also saw play in the circle in three games... hit .227 for the year behind 25 hits, which included a team-high five homers... those bombs helped her tie for 7th on the EIU Top 10 career list with 11 total homer runs... also had a pair of doubles... finished third on the squad with 21 RBI... touched home plate 11 times.

2011:  Had a nice freshman season as a walk-on to the squad as she hit .280 for the year, including 42 shots... with seven doubles and six homers... she tallied 30 RBI and 67 total bases... a patient hitter, she led the team in walks with 20... went 1-for-2 in stolen bases... started in 49 games, playing mostly at first base... earned 12 multi-hit games and tied three other Panthers with seven multiple RBI contests... at one point in the year she enjoyed a five-game hitting streak... had four game-winning hits (or scoring scenarios) to her name as a true freshman... nailed a pair of two-run homers as EIU routed OVC rival TSU... also had four RBI game at EKU earned series sweep of league power EKU... collected 266 put-outs, including 23 assists to notch a .986 fielding %... a two-sport Eastern athlete as she is also a full-time starter on the Panther volleyball squad..

HS:  Was the starting pitcher for the softball squad that advanced to the IHSA state tourney three times... finishing in the Sweet 16 this past spring, the Elite 8 last year and state Runner-Up as a sophomore... named 2009 Decatur Herald & Review All-Area ‘Player of the Year’ for both softball and volleyball... three-time All-Big 12 Conference honoree... earned All-State Top 100 and Top 50 kudos as a junior and senior, respectively... tabbed with Big 12 conference honors in basketball and a three-time league honoree in softball... played volleyball under coach Susie Hutchinson, her mother, at Mattoon HS... also earned letters as a member both the softball and basketball squads... she helped lead the Green Wave to the IHSA Sweet 16 as a senior, marking the best season finish by an MHS volleyball squad in over 20 years... took home the Big 12 ‘Offensive Player of the Year’ and ‘Pitcher of the Year’ awards as a junior and senior... twice earned the highest scholastic average by a student-athlete and captured the Outstanding Senior Letterwinner award.

PERSONAL: Majoring in secondary education/math ... the daughter of Jeff & Susie Hutchinson... ‘Hutch’ credits her parents for influencing her sports career, “because of how much they’ve given me and pushed me."

OFF THE FIELD WITH REYNAE:  Chose to attend EIU “because it’s close to home and a great place to get the education I need to become a successful teacher... plus I also felt that I would be able to grow and develop as a student, an athlete, and as a person”... considers seafood to be ‘the devil’, so it is obviously her least favorite food to eat... her hidden talent is “being able to break an apple in half with my hands”... her favorite quote is “sometimes, there is no next time, no second chance, no timeout... sometimes, it’s now or never”... her advice to a younger athlete would be to “work hard... you have to work harder than every other person out there... talent is one thing, but it won’t get you anywhere if you expect things to be handed to you on a silver platter.”
