2008: Carney pitched in four games and started the midweek match-ups at Saint Louis and Bradley… also pitched in relief against Western Michigan and Illinois State during the spring break trip… gave up only four hits over 6 1/3 innings, good for a .190 batting average against… however, he also issued 11 walks and hit two batters… pitched three innings at SLU, his longest outing of the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: Carney was a four-year letter-winner for coach Mike Franzen at Glenbard North High School… also lettered twice in basketball… All-DuPage Valley Conference and Carol Stream Press All-Area honoree in baseball… team captain of both the baseball and basketball teams as a senior… also an All-DuPage Valley Conference and Daily Herald All-Area selection in basketball… earned six academic all-conference awards, four in baseball and two in basketball… also played for the America Legion Post 76 team.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was pitching three complete-game shutouts, including a one-hitter, his senior year… his father has been a major influence on his sports career because "he taught me how to work hard for something that I want"… most admires his high school basketball coach Erin Dwyer because "he made me be the best player I possibly could be"… son of Paul and Trinnette Carney… MAJOR: Kinesiology & Sports Studies.
