Biography

2012: Saw zero action as a senior due to a career-ending injury.

2011: Played in all ten games... tied her career mark for assists as she one out vs. Grand Valley State... in same game she also earned her second steal-at-tackle... in season-finale versus Purdue she was one of several players to kick a two-point conversion as she went a perfect 2-for-2... finished season with 19 points with the addition of three trys.

2010: Saw action in eight contests... Ashley tied her single-game assist mark three times, first against Minnesota and again versus Iowa State and Missouri... added a run over 20-yards three times as well, while also scoring a try in three separate games.

2009:  Played in all ten games as a redshirt freshman... naturally topped each of her statistical categories, including earning her first career trys and points... with a high of two five-point trys in EIU’s 60-0 blanking of Illinois... also earned her first every assist, run over 20-yards and steals at tackle.

2008: Played in two games before foregoing the season with a redshirt... she registered a solo tackle versus Wisconsin All-Stars to open the season and at home against Iowa State... also had an assisted stop vs. Wisconsin All-Stars.

HS: Earned varsity letters in swimming (4), bowling (3) and softball (2) at Tinley Park HS... tabbed All-Conference honors and named team captain in all three sports... was state qualifier in bowling her senior year... member of National Honor Society and an Illinois state scholar.

PERSONAL: Her dad has been a major influence on her sports career because “he always pushed me to be better”... daughter of Richard & Ellen Aardsma... physical education major.

FUN FACTS: ‘Arty’ choose EIU “because it was a new area than home”... her hidden talen is singing... currently drives a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am... if she could switch places when anyone it would be her brother, “because I’d get to experience what having cerebral palsy is like, so that I could relate better to him and understand his struggles”... favorite quote is “you’re never a loser until you quit trying” (anonymous).
