Biography
2008: Slota started all 18 games she played in… missed only the Illinois State game after suffering an injury in the first half of the home finale against Southeast Missouri… returned for the OVC Tournament game at Morehead State and went the distance… her team-long consecutive games started streak ended at 49 when she sat out the Illinois State match… key member of an EIU defense that posted three straight shutouts and a scoreless streak of 434 consecutive minutes late in the season… ranked fourth on the team in minutes (1,533), averaging 85 per game… went the distance a team-high 15 times, including a stretch of nine straight contests… played 881 consecutive minutes during that stretch, the longest such streak on the team this season… played a season-high 110 minutes in the scoreless draws against Northern Iowa and Austin Peay… Eastern was 2-0 when she has scored a goal during her career.
2007: OVC Defensive Player of the Week (Oct. 9)… Slota started all 20 games, extending her consecutive games started streak to 32… will enter her senior season with the longest starting streak on the team… led the team in minutes played (1,753), going the distance in 13 of the 20 games… scored the game-winning goal following a corner kick in the first half of the Tennessee Tech victory… the goal was eerily similar to the game-winner she scored on the same end of the field in the 2006 OVC Tournament win against UT Martin… earned her first OVC Defensive Player of the Week honor after playing 164 of the 180 minutes during the shutout weekend against Tech and Austin Peay… assisted on EIU’s first goal of the year, Michelle Steinhaus’ score at Eastern Michigan... also setup Alexis Miller’s goal at Southeast Missouri.
2006: OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... She started all 18 games in which she played… scored her first goal, the game-winner, in EIU’s OVC Tournament victory over UT Martin… first Panther since 2000 whose first goal was the game-winner in an OVC Tournament win… key member of the EIU defense that shutout seven opponents and surrendered just five goals in OVC play… put two of her four shots on goal...
2005: OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... played in 20 of the 21 games and started 19 times, including the first 15 games of the season and both OVC Tournament contests… tallied her first collegiate point with an assist on Trisha Walter’s goal at Eastern Kentucky… 19 starts were tops among the EIU freshmen… her play on the back row was one of the primary reasons why EIU allowed only two goals in OVC play and posted an EIU record 10 shutouts… tallied two shots at Loyola...
HIGH SCHOOL: She was a three-year letter winner for coach Brian Papa… two-time all-conference and all-area selection… 2005 all-sectional and team captain… three-time all-academic… also played for the Windy City Pride club team, the three-time State Cup champion from 2002-05… Windy City Pride won the Midwest Region in 2002 and 2004, finishing second (‘04) and fourth (‘02) nationally… National Honor Society.
PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was going to nationals in 2002 with Windy City… her brother Aaron has been a major influence on her sports career because “if he had not started playing soccer, I don’t know if I would have”… daughter of Don and Mary Slota… MAJOR: Accounting.
