Biography
2008: OVC Player of the Week (Nov. 4)… Wilkening played in 16 games and started seven times, including five straight at midseason… in just nine minutes late in the first half at Illinois State, scored her first career goal and assisted on Kaitlin Sullivan’s game-tying score… earned OVC Player of the Week honors for her offensive flurry… played 73 minutes in a reserve roll in the must-win game against Southeast Missouri after classmate Ashley Slota left the game with an injury… averaged 82 minutes as a starter… went the distance four times, including a stretch of three straight games in late September.
2007: OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... Wilkening played in 19 games and started 18 times, including the first 16 contests of the season… played 491 consecutive minutes to start the season, the longest streak on the team… did not leave the field until late in the first half of the Western Kentucky loss (game six)… ranked fourth on the team in minutes played, averaging 77.3 per contest… assisted on Kathleen Hayes’ game-winning goal against Ball State and Michelle Steinhaus’ second score versus Jacksonville State… played the entire game nine times total, including victories against Eastern Michigan, Indiana State, Ball State and Eastern Kentucky.
2006: OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... She played in 19 games and started the first 17… registered an assist on Michelle Steinhaus’ game-tying goal at Samford… put both of her shots on goal in the regular-season game against Morehead State… key member of the EIU defense that shutout seven opponents and surrendered just five goals in OVC play.
2005: OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll... She played in 17 games and started the Loyola contest… saw action off the bench in both OVC Tournament games… assisted on Michelle Steinhaus’ game-winning goal at Morehead State for her first collegiate point.
HIGH SCHOOL: She was a four-year letter-winner for coach Josh Adler... also lettered twice in basketball… three-time All-Big Northern Conference selection, elected unanimously in 2004 and 2005… Daily Herald All-Area as a junior and senior… Wendy’s Heisman nominee... team captain as a senior... BCHS won three straight conference titles as well as regional crowns in ‘02 and ‘04… four-year honor roll student… pep club president… also played for the FC twente3 club recently.
PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was reaching the ESPNU-broadcast 2005 OVC Tournament championship game her freshman year at EIU… Coach Adler has been a major influence on her sports career because “his coaching style allowed me to become the best player I could be”… most admires Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney... her sister Kendra plays soccer at Western Illinois... daughter of Brian and Wendy Wilkening… MAJOR: Biological Sciences/Pre-Optometry.
