Biography
2012: Playing in six contests, Mahan set new personal marks for assists, runs over 20-yards and steals-at-tackle over the course of the season.
2011: Saw action in all ten games, finishing with top solo tackle numbers and second in assisted stops and steals-at-tackle... tied or topped her previously single-game bests in nearly every stat category... five of her single-game performances earned a stop in the EIU record books... her 68 total tackles ranks as the 10th best single-season tally, while her nine SAT tied for 17th... continues to move up the career ranks as her 181 solo tackles is now third best all-time.. while her 66 assisted stops sits in 8th place in the Panther ranks.
2010: Mahan secured the Most Improved Award following an impressive sophomore season... also shared the Outstanding Defensive Award with fellow classmate Kelsi Wright as the two went neck-in-neck for top defensive numbers... upped her career stat numbers in every stat category as the sophomore played in all but one contest this season... twice ran-in a try and tied her assist tally with one in the season opener... notched 20 solo stops as EIU battled Big Ten rival Michigan at home... also had five assisted stops against the Wolverines and followed that with another five assisted tackles at UW-Milwaukee... tallied double-digit solo tackle numbers four times this season... while her team-best 88 total tackles and 30 assisted stops ranked as the fifth and eighth best single-season mark, respectively... has already added her name to the career record books for both defensive stat categories as well.
2009: Stephanie played in all ten games as a true freshman... and proved good defensive skills as she notched 28 total solo stops and 17 assisted tackles... had a season-high seven tackles in EIU’s huge win over UNI... also notched two steals-at-tackle and dished out a couple of assists....
HS: Played rugby and volleyball at Glenbard North HS for coaches Dedra Debenedeth and Marle Johnson... won the state championship in rugby for St. Charles Girls Rugby squad... earned letters in volleyball and named co-captain her senior year... also played basketball and volleyball... a junior nationals invitee for volleyball while playing for Hawk Attack VB club... named academic all-conference and member of the High Honor Roll while earning an academic letter....
PERSONAL: A communications major, Stephanie is the daughter of Phil & Ann Mahan... her brother, Greg, played football for EIU as well....
FUN FACTS: Chose EIU “because of rugby!”... secret talents include playing guitar... drives a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee... loves ribs... her family dog, a Portugese water dog, is named ‘Marley’... her favorite quote is “live, love, laugh.”
