Biography


2012-13:  Saw limited action following his transfer to EIU... only competed in one doubles match, versus SIU, where he joined by newcomer Rui Silva at the No. 3 spot.

JC:  Transferred to EIU following a pair of seasons at Kaskaskia College in nearby Centralia... earned MVP honors following both his seasons.

HS:  Earned four letters as a multi-year member of the tennis squad and a letter as a member of the wrestling team as well for coach David Junkins at Mt. Vernon Township HS... in tennis, was a four-year varsity player... honors included earning first team all-conference kudos three consecutive years... qualified for IHSA state action in 2010... Mt. Vernon finished with an undefeated season in 2009, while also twice tallying conference championships in 2007 and 2008... four year member of the Honor Roll, including high honors.

PERSONAL:  Majoring in exercise science ... son of Mahlon & Yvonne Hallam... his No. 1 sports highlight was "competing at state as a senior in high school"... credits his family for having the biggest influence on his sports career, "because they got me started in sports and always supported me and pushed me to be better"... three members of his family - Micki, Austin and Carissa Hallam - have all played collegiate sports.

OFF THE COURT WITH ANTHONY:  Chose EIU "because of the great reviews, plus my sister attended"... feels some of EIU's advantages over other OVC and state schools include "the intramural sports program and the wide variety of competition available"... enjoys playing all sports that involve a racquet... hidden talents include juggling and being a musician the last 11 years... currently driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am GT... loves eating chocolate, pizza and pasta, but dislikes sushi and mushrooms... favorite bands include Incubus and maroon 5... always catches Family Guy when it is on tv... his family has a tabby cat named 'Tigger'... his advice to a younger tennis player would be "work hard and break a sweat"... his personal goal is to "learn my role in life."
