Biography
2013 ... Played in all eight contests as a senior... set new career highs in nearly every stat category... tied her mark for trys with a run-in versus Illinois State... set new bests for solo and assisted tackles and also had a pair of runs over 20-yards.
2012 ... Saw action in six of the eight games over the course of her freshman year... she earned her first try of her career at the Wisconsin All-Stars game... registered seven solo tackles in EIU's win at Kansas State, while also scampering for a pair of runs over 20-yards against fellow DI foe Quinnipiac.
HIGH SCHOOL ... Â Played volleyball, basketball and was a letterwinner in softball for coaches Kristy Weasloh, Dave Mello and Beth Keathley at Fenton HS in Bensenville, Ill.... as the starting third baseman in 2008 her squad won the league championship for the first time in 31 years, while also picking up first-ever regional title, sporting the most victories in program history and longest winning streak... her squad finished ranked as the #5-squad in the state... received A and A/B honor rolls while also earning the prestigious athletic academic honor certificate.
PERSONAL ... Â 'Gel' or 'Gelly-J' credits scoring her first try as a freshman in 2012 as one of her biggest sports memories... credits all her coaches and family and friends for having the biggest influence on her sports career, "because they always push me to be my best and have been by my side the entire time"... played club softball while in high school... daugher of Jon Jensen and Laura Cerceo... planning on majoring in family and consumer sciences, with a concentration in hospitality and a minor in business administration.
OFF THE PITCH WITH ANGELICA ... Â Chose EIU, "because both of my two older cousins went to EIU and I wanted to continue the family name by also attending Eastern... plus when I visited them I really liked the school and what it had to offer"... feels some of Eastern's other advantages include "the class sizes... with smaller classroom sizes I believe that you get a better teacher/student relationship... getting help from the teacher is not hard at all and most teachers are willing to take the time to help as best as they can"... enjoys playing practically ever sports, in addition to rugby... hidden talent includes playing the guitar and trumpet, while currently attempting to learn to DJ... drives a 1997 Toyota Camry... worse job she ever was working in a library... loves Italian food and really doesn't have any least fav foods... can't go anywhere without her Iphone... her family has three cats -- Nicolas Dominick, Cricket and Madaline... recently enjoyed taking professor Kathy Rhoades' FCS class... since coming to EIU she has learned "a lot about myself... I have met so many amazing friends that I know I will continue to have in my life"... her advice to a younger athlete would be "to keep your head up and keep going... live and love the game you play.... respect and love your team you will be spending a lot of time with them... even if you don't understand what is going on at practice the first couple of days, it is okay... you will understand it and you have all of the older girls, like myself, to help with whatever you need"... her favorite quote is "live every moment ... laugh every day... love beyond words."
