Biography
HIGH SCHOOL ... Overbey was a three-sport athlete at Cissna Park HS, earning three letters in basketball and softball and an additional pair as a member of her prep volleyball squad... in basketball she earned team captain, T-Wolf Tip OFf all-tourney team , top rebounding, and leadership awards... named to second team all-conference as well as honorable mention by both the News-Gazette and Kankakee Daily journal... also nabbed first team and all-area honors... secured the Kankakee CC Showcase outstanding player award... in softball she was tabbed as the most improved player... member of her high school Honor Roll.
PERSONAL ... Planning to major in special education while at EIU... daughter of Thomas & Jennifer Overbey... born on Nov. 15... No. 1 sports highlight was "winning the hardest basketball regional in 1A this past year"... credits her father for having the biggest influence on her sports career, "because sports is what he loved and it's what I love, so we had a connection throughout... he always pushed me to do my best and when I wasn't, he told me I needed to work harder... he always made me strive for my dreams"... member of the Ambush Lady Basketball club squad.
OFF THE PITCH WITH MADISON ... 'Mad', 'Maddog' or 'Mo' chose EIU "because of the nice campus and excellent program for special education"... feels some of EIU's advantages over other state schools include "being close by far enough from home... just the right size of cmapus and good programs"... also enjoys playing basketball, sand volleyball, softball, swimming, and anything competitive really... her hidden talent is being able to sing in the shower very well... currently driving a 2003 Chevy Impala... worse job she ever had was working at her local Dairy Queen... she loves to eat sushi, but doesn't care for ham... she can't go anywhere without her car... best vacation memory was a trip to California with her family... her family owns a yellow lab named 'Ranger'... wishes she could bring her little brother, Owen, with her to campus... her advice to a younger athlete would be "to not give up on something you've never done"... her goals while at EIU include "holding a 3.25 GPA or higher... and to become one of the best rugby players to go through Eastern."
