Biography
HIGH SCHOOL ... Webb secured five letters as member of her prep volleyball and track squads for coaches Mark Jackley and Troy Haacke at nearby Mattoon HS... in track she placed first in the Apollo Conference for the discus throw... which helped to place her name on the Hall of Fame in her high school... team-wise, she was a member of the track squad that twice earned league honors in 2013 and 2014... while her volleyball unit hoisted the Apollo trophy two times as well in 2012 and 2013... graduated in the Top 10% of her high school class and with high honors.
PERSONAL ... Planning to major in nursing while at EIU... daughter of Mark & Jean Webb... born on Feb. 22... her No. 1 sports highlight was "placing first in the conference track & field meet in the discus throw"... credits her mom for being the biggest influence on her sports career, "because she has always supported everything that I have set my mind to do."
OFF THE PITCH WITH LYNN ... 'Glynn' or 'Lynnwebb' (all one name) chose EIU "because I have always thought it was a great school and being able to play the sport of rugby helped me to make the decision"... feels some of EIU's advantages over other schools includes "the great diversity within the campus... and the multitude of different talents there"... also enjoys playing volleyball and track or anything that is outside... her hidden talents include being able to trapshot and hunt... currently driving a 2001 Ford Escort... loves to dine on bread, mac 'n cheese and pizza, but dislikes funyuns... she can't go anywhere without her phone... her best vacation memory was "seeing a rocket launch on our way to a family trip in Florida"... family owns a Golden Retriever/Chow mix named 'Nemo'... wishes she could switch places with actor Channing Tatum's wife, for just one day... since coming to EIU she has learned "that the next four years is going to be a blast"... favorite place on campus is O'Brien Stadium... wishes she could bring the restaurant Villa Pizza to Charleston with her... her advice to a younger athlete would be "to take the opportunity to do something different, it's a once in a lifetime chance"... favorite quote comes via Kacey Musgraves -- "you're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't... so you might as well just do whatever you want"... her goals while at EIU include "becoming a nurse practitioner midwife after my four years here and two additional years of school."
