Biography
2014-15 ... Saw action in just three events during his final season as a Panther as a junior... set season-best marks in both the 50-Free and 100-Fly at the House of Champions meet.
2013-14 ... Improved his EIU Top 10 mark in the 200-Fly at the end-of-season Summit League Meet as he now owns the second-fastest time... advancing to the A Finals where he placed eighth... saw lots of other action over the course of his sophomore season, including swimming in several free events and a pair of backstroke races... full-time member of several relay events as well.
2012-13 ... Made a splash in his first year as a Panther as he added his name to the EIU Top 10 records in the 200-Fly (4th), 100-Fly (7th), and 500-Free (10th)... all came about at the end-of-season Summit League meet... he also saw action in five additional races... plus joined the 800-Free Relay squad.
HIGH SCHOOL ... Four-year letterwinner as a varsity swimmer for coach Jim Sheridan at Columbus North HS in Indiana... prep record holder in the 200-Medley Relay... earned All-American honors as a two-time state qualifier as a junior and senior... state finalist during his senior campaign... won his sectional in the 200-Free in 2011... also a state finalist in the 400-Free Relay in 2012... his squad placed in six events during the 2012 state meet... earned an academic honors diploma.
PERSONAL ... Undecided on a major... son of Brian & Denise Conroy... born on September 10... his No. 1 sports highlight was "coming in the Top 5 at the state meet in a pair of relays in 2012"... credits his dad for having the biggest influence on his sports career, "because he's always encouraging me and pushing me to be a better athlete"... his dad was a member of the water polo team at the University of Richmond, while his sister, Caitlin Conroy, swam at Illinois.
OUT OF THE WATER WITH CONNER ... Conner chose EIU, "because during my recruiting trip, I had a great time with the team, while coach McGill was a great host... the team had good chemistry, plus I like the size of the school and it's still close to my hometown"... feels some of EIU's advantages over other Summit League and state schools include "the fact that the men's team ranks extremely high in the team GPA, which is very impressive... that tells me that they place great importance on academics and not just the sport"... likes to play Xbox and spend time with friends, while also lifting weights and playing basketball... currently driving a 2005 Toyota Solara... enjoys eating Mexican food, mashed potatoes and pizza, but dislikes mayo... would like to meet actor Ryan Reynolds... his favorite actor and actress are Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams... whlie his fav t.v. show is How I Met Your Mother... his family owns two dogs, a chocolate lab and a brown lab named Barceligh and Waffle... he can't go anywhere without his phone... his advice to a younger swimmer is "to keep doing what you are doing... work hard, train hard and have fun"... his favorite quote comes from Oscar Wilde -- "be yourself; everyone else is already taken"... his goals while at EIU and long term include "to get an Olympic trail cut... while academically I want to help the team maintain their high GPA standing."
