Biography
2014-15 ... Added his name to three EIU Record Book marks as a true freshman... set them all at the end-of-season Summit League meet, as he now owns the 9th best marks in the 50 & 100-Free and 100-Fly, advancing to the B Finals in each... also competed in the 400-Free Relay as the opening leg, plus the third leg in both the 200-Free and 400-Medley units.
HIGH SCHOOL ... Earned four letters as a member of the Streator Township HS swim squad for coach Jenny Borkowski... also competed in football three years and base for a couple of season... multiple Academic All-Conference honoree... three-time MVP of the swimming squad, as well as the team captain, as he advanced to the state swim meet... member of the High Honor Roll.
PERSONAL ... Biology major while at EIU... son of Adam & Sue Truchon... born on April 27... No. 1 sports highlight was "placing first at the sectional swim meet my junior in the 100-Free"... credits his family and friends for having the biggest influence on his sports career, "because they have encouraged me every step of the way."
OUT OF THE WATER WITH STEPHEN ... 'Steve-o' chose EIU, "because I felt the most comfortable here"... enjoys playing football and baseball, while also hanging out with friends and writing music... his secret talents include being able to play the guitar and drums... drives a 1979 Camero... enjoys dining on crap legs but dislikes veggies... his favorite movie is Shutter Island... family owns an English Mastiff named 'Max'... he can't go anywhere without his cell phone... wishes he could bring his friends from his hometown here to EIU with him... his advice to a younger swimmer is "do what you love, don't let others get in the way of your dreams"... his favorite quote comes via the late, great Frank Sinatra -- "the best revenge is massive success"... his goals while at EIU include "breaking a swimming record."
