Biography
2014-15 ... Made the most of his lone freshman season as a Panther, as he added his name to the EIU Record Books with the new sixth fastest 200-Fly time in the B-Finals at the Summit League meet... swam in nine additional individual events, setting additional season bests at the seame end-of-season event... also member of a trio of relay units, including swimming the lead-off leg of the 800-Free Relay.
HIGH SCHOOL ... Earned four letters for coaches Kathy Piper & Randy Willis at Richland HS in the state of Washington... he was a four-time District Champion in the 100-Back and twice in the 200-IM as well... Washington 4A state finals qualifier all four seasons in both individual events and member of the relays... finished in third place at the state meet as both a junior and senior in the 100-Back... two-time recipient of his school's Coaches Award... named the District 'Swimmer of the Year' as a senior and earned 'Athlete of the Week' honors by the Tri-City Herald during his junior campaign... his high school squad earned League Championship title all four years that he was a member of the team... they also nabbed District honor three times and finished in the state Top 10 four consecutive seasons.
PERSONAL ... Physical therapy major... son of Dean & Tia Pollick... born on April 24... No. 1 sports highlight was "getting my first Junior National cut"... credits his parents for having the biggest influence on his sports career, "because they have been there for me and supported me every step of the way."
OUT OF THE WATER WITH ASHTON ... 'Ash' chose EIU, "because the team and the school were a great fit for me... plus EIU had everything I wanted including my major and the size"... driving a 1998 Ford Explorer... enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies and playing video games in his spare time... enjoys eating goulash and dill pickle dip... dislikes fish or tomatoes... family owns a Beatle and Siamese cat named 'Jack' and 'Mocha', respectively... he can't go anywhere without his phone or wallet... wishes he could bring his mom's cooking with him here to Eastern... his favorite quote comes via his prep coach Randy Willis -- "never give up!"... his goal while at EIU includes "advancing to the NCAA Championships."
