EIU (2007-08): Off seven of ten matches on the season, he finished with a 78.9 average... finished a season-high 17th place tie at the Midwest Shoot-Out... earned the prestigious academic OVC Medal of Honor... also an EIU scholar-athlete and named to Dean’s List.... 

EIU (2006-07): Played in four of ten events... completed 12 rounds with a 77.1 average... best finish was a tie for 24th at the Morehead State Invitational.... 

EIU (2005-06): Played in three events as a freshman, with nine rounds completed... had a stroke average of 80.4... best finish was a 22nd place at EIU’s own Fall Classic.... 

HS: Attended Winchester HS earning four letters in golf and one in basketball...golf team MVP... set a school scoring record (67) at a home tourney... National Honor Society member... finished with a 5.1 GPA on a 5.0 scale.... 

PERSONAL: ‘Young Matt’ and/or ‘Davie’ is the son of Mike & Karen Davis... majoring in sports management... also earning a minor in business administration... greatest sports moment was “winning the 2004 Class A IHSA State Championship in golf, making high school history in the process”... credits his father for being his biggest sports influence, “because he is inspirational and continues to push me throughout my playing career”... choose to attend EIU “because of the great school community, it’s a Division I university and I earned a scholarship”... also enjoys playing sand volleyball and bowling... his dog (a shih tzu mix) is named ‘Sadie’... his advice to a younger athlete is “work hard and keep your confidence up”... enjoys eating meatloaf and macaroni & cheese, but dislikes potato salad... lists his hidden talent as “being able to play video games”... currently driving a ‘04 Pontiac Grand Prix.... 

COACH MONCEL SAYS: “Matt is my lone senior... so I’m looking for him to step up his play this year… I know he’s got the potential and game to give us some productive rounds… I think once he is able to eliminate some big numbers on some holes he’ll be solid for us.”
