Biography

2009: OVC Pitcher of the Week (April 27)College Baseball Foundation National All-Star Lineup (April 29)… Kehrer pitched in 14 games and started 13 times… made his lone relief appearance in the win at Illinois, working a scoreless sixth inning… led the OVC in strikeouts (90) batting average against (.213), giving up only 59 hits in 73 1/3 innings… posted the second highest single-season strikeout total in program history… averaged 11 strikeouts per nine innings… posted three double-figure strikeout performances, including a career-high 14 in his complete-game one-hitter against SIU Edwardsville… also fanned 12 of the 24 batters he faced in five innings against Butler on Feb. 28… struck out 10 through eight-plus innings in the OVC Tournament game against Murray State… dominated left-handed hitters, who batted only .160 (8-for-50) against him… was also dominate with two outs in an inning, posting a .169 average against… went 3-1 with 35 strikeouts a 3.38 ERA in four home starts, limiting hitters to a .167 average and giving up only four extra-base hits in 26 2/3 innings… was also impressive in his three neutral-site starts, surrendering only eight hits in 20 innings… SIU Edwardsville did not hit a fair ball out of the infield in his one-hit shutout, which was the first by a Panther since 2006… also gave up only one hit in his February start against Butler… outdueled OVC Pitcher of the Year Daniel Calhoun (of Murray State) in the nightcap of the April 4 doubleheader, pitching seven innings of one-run ball… gave up only three hits, did not issue a walk and struck out eight in that win against Murray… held his own at nationally-ranked Louisville, limited UofL to four runs in six innings… did not give up an earned run in seven innings of two-hit ball in a victory against Bethune-Cookman… limited Eastern Kentucky to one run in his first six innings of a victory in the regular-season finale… Top 100 Rankings: 15th in strikeouts per nine innings, 34th in fewest hits allowed per nine innings and 58th in strikeouts… Top 10 OVC Rankings: first in strikeouts and batting average against, fourth in games started and 10th in innings pitched... EIU Single-Season Rankings: second in strikeouts… EIU All-Time Rankings: seventh in strikeouts.

2008:
Kehrer pitched in 16 games, starting 13 times… started a game in eight of the nine OVC series, all but the conference-opening set… also started the OVC Tournament game against Samford and the NCAA Regional contest versus Oral Roberts… ranked second on the team in games started, innings pitched and strikeouts… posted a 2.87 ERA in conference play, ranking sixth in the league… pitched much more effectively than his record would indicate, as EIU was shutout in three of his eight conference starts… was EIU’s starting pitcher in both games against First Team All-OVC starters Christian Friedrich (EKU) and Ben Tootle (JSU), keeping the Panthers in the game and helping prevent both pitchers from earning a win against Eastern… averaged 8.5 strikeouts per nine innings… went 1-0 with a 2.28 ERA, 24 strikeouts and a .241 batting average against at home… gave up only two extra-base hits in 23 2/3 innings at home… led the team with a 3.46 ERA in true road games… went 1-1 with a 2.38 ERA and a .238 batting average against in four April starts… bounced back from a tough spring break trip with a solid midweek start against Southern Illinois, giving up just one run over five innings… did not give up an earned run over 5 1/3 innings at Tennessee Tech in his first OVC start of the season… surrendered just one earned run while striking out seven over seven innings to earn his first home win in the finale of the UT Martin series… matched his career high with eight strikeouts over 6 2/3 scoreless innings in game one of the doubleheader against Jacksonville State… worked 4 2/3 innings at Samford, the only two runs he allowed coming on a home run… closed the regular season strong, working 6 2/3 innings at Eastern Kentucky and only allowing two earned runs… pitched into the sixth against Samford at the OVC Tournament, departing with EIU leading 4-2… Top 10 OVC Rankings: fifth in strikeouts and games started.

2007: He pitched in 15 games and started a team-high 11 times… surrendered only eight extra-base hits in 41 innings pitched… opposing hitters batted just .244 against him with two outs… tossed four innings of two-hit ball in his collegiate debut, a shutout of Chicago State… did not allow an earned run and struck out a season-high eight over 5 1/3 innings at Belmont… put together a quality start at The Citadel, surrendering three runs in six innings… struck out five and gave up just one hit through four innings in a midweek start at Southern Illinois… did not surrender a home run after April 1… did not give up an extra-base hit through 11 1/3 innings over a month's time late in the season.

HIGH SCHOOL: He was a four-year letter-winner for coach John Groennert… also lettered four times in basketball and twice in football… First Team All-Cahokia Conference pitcher as a senior… also earned Second Team All-Metro honors… in basketball earned Second Team All-Conference recognition his junior year, honorable mention as a senior… won back-to-back Cahokia Conference titles as an upperclassman… in baseball, Trenton-Wesclin was the runner-up at the 2006 Class A IHSA State Tournament… also played for the New Baden Post 321 American Legion team.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was winning the 2008 OVC Tournament title and pitching in the NCAA Regional… his mother has been a major influence on his sports career because "she made sure I stayed involved in different sports and made sure I was alwasy on time for games"… most admires his high school basketball coach Brent Brede because "he taught me that when something isn't going as planned, you just need to battle through it"… his uncle Dan Netemeyer played in the Kansas City Royals minor league system… son of Bruce and Deb KehrerMAJOR: Kinesiology and Sports Studies (with a Teacher's Certification).
