REDSHIRT-SENIOR (2012): Made 16 appearances with 16 starts… posted a 5-4 record with a conference-best 2.53 ERA… also led the OVC in innings pitched (110.1) while ranking fourth in strikeouts (83 K)… held opposing hitters to a .260 batting average… posted a 3-1 record with a 2.95 ERA in conference only games with 50 strikeouts to only 12 walks… helped the Panther pitching staff post a conference-best 4.14 ERA… named to the All-OVC First Team… also earned OVC All-Tournament Team honors… posted a 0.00 ERA in 15.2 innings of work at the OVC Tournament with nine strikeouts… pitched a complete game, two-hitter in the Panthers 2-1 win over Morehead State in the opening game of the conference tournament… finished his career with a 3.90 ERA, the eighth lowest in school history… also finished his career with 16 wins, 193 strikeouts (8^th in school history), 293 innings pitched (2^nd in school history) and 36 starts (2^nd in school history). 

REDSHIRT JUNIOR (2011): Made 14 appearances, starting in 14 contests… posted a 5-6 record in the year with a 5.53 ERA… led the team in strikeouts with 50… also led the team in innings pitched with 84.2… posted a 3-3 record with a 7.12 ERA in OVC play… also had 31 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched during OVC action… issued 15 walks and held opposing hitters to a .313 batting average… was the only EIU pitcher to throw a complete game, coming at Memphis on March 18… tossed a season-high nine strikeouts against Eastern Kentucky on March 26 and against Tennessee Tech on April 16... began the year with a 5-2 record through nine starts before going 0-4 in his last five starts.

REDSHIRT SOPHOMORE (2010): Made 15 appearances, starting in 11 contests… led the team with a 4.16 ERA… led the nation in fewest walks per nine innings (0.67), the best in EIU single-season history… posted a 4-4 record on the year… tossed 39 strikeouts to only five walks in 67 innings of action… had two, seven-inning complete game performances… pitched a seven-inning complete game shutout at Morehead State on April 10th while only allowing three hits… posted a 3-4 record in OVC play with a 3.74 ERA… issued only two walks in 43.1 innings of OVC action… ended the season riding a streak of 27.1 consecutive innings without issuing a walk… did not throw a wild pitch on the year… tossed a season-high five strikeouts in a 4-3 win over Austin Peay on April 2… finished the month of April with a 2-1 record and a 2.21 ERA in 20.1 innings pitched… was 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA in home games… also held opposing hitters to a .236 batting average while issuing only one walk in 28.2 innings pitched at Coaches Stadium.

REDSHIRT FRESHMAN (2009): Did not see action due to an elbow injury… granted a medical redshirt.

FRESHMAN (2008): Made five appearances and five starts… went 2-0 with a 3.77 ERA… tossed 21 strikeouts to only seven walks in 31 innings of work… held opposing hitters to a .244 batting average… recorded his first career start at Southeastern Louisiana State on Feb. 24… posted his first win with the Panthers on March 14 against Northern Iowa… threw a season-high six strikeouts in a home win over Morehead State on March 22.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was a two-year letterwinner in baseball… was tabbed the Northwest Indiana Times Player of the Year as a senior… earned all-area honors in 2006 and 2007 by the Northwest Times and the Star Newspaper… was a two-time SICA Central Silver honoree… played for Ken Reynolds in high school… also played for the Lansing Redbirds during the summer in high school.

PERSONAL: Son of Dale and Debra Hoekstra… majoring in kinesiology and sports studies.
