Schellas Hyndman
Schellas Hyndman

EIU Player, 1969-73 | EIU Head Coach, 1977-83
Hyndman was the head coach of FC Dallas of Major League Soccer from 2008-13 after spending the previous 24 years as the head coach at Southern Methodist University. Hyndman was a defender on the 1969 EIU team that won the NAIA national title. He graduated with a bachelor's degree in physical education and returned to Charleston to become the program's head coach in 1977. He was named the NSCAA National Coach of the Year in 1981 after leading the Panthers to a national third-place finish in the program's first year at the NCAA Division I level. Eastern was also a NCAA DII national runner-up in 1979. He posted 98 of his 466 all-time collegiate victories at EIU. Hyndman was inducted into the EIU athletics Hall of Fame in 2001.

LeBaron Hollimon, 1988-91

Former Eastern Illinois men's soccer player LeBaron Hollimon was the head coach of the Major Indoor Soccer League's Wichita Wings from 2011-13. 

Hollimon's professional playing career started in 1991 as a 2nd round draft pick of the Tulsa Ambush. Hollimon joined the Wings the following season where he helped lead the Wings to six playoff appearances during his seven-year career with the club.

The Wichita, Kan., native played for the Panthers from 1988-91. Hollimon's best season came during the 1991 season when he was named to the All-Mid Continent Conference First Team after leading EIU in goals and assists. He also earned NSCAA All-Midwest Region Second Team honors in 1991.



Mark Simpson
Mark Simpson, 1984-87

Simpson was the goalkeepers coach of D.C. United of Major League Soccer from 2004-10 and during the 2002 season. As a professional player, he started all six playoff games in 1996, helping lead D.C. United to the inaugural MLS Cup championship. He was also a member of MLS Cup championship teams in 1997 and 1999. As an EIU goalkeeper, Simpson helped lead the Panthers to Mid-Continent Conference titles in 1985 and 1987. He earned NSCAA All-Midwest Region honors in each of his upperclassman seasons.







Matt Bobo
Matt Bobo, 1997-98
Bobo was a defender with the Charleston (S.C.) Battery of the United Soccer League's First Division in 2009. He has also played for the Milwaukee Wave United, Richmond Kickers and Atlanta Silverbacks during his professional career. He helped Milwaukee win the the 2002 USL A-League title. Bobo transfered to EIU from Wisconsin-Green Bay in time for the 1997 season. As a senior in 1998, he helped the Panthers post 12 victories and was recognized with First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference honors.
