Eastern Illinois men’s basketball will be celebrating 100 years of intercollegiate basketball this season. The year long celebration was kicked off on August 14 at the Panther Club Golf Outing in Mattoon, Ill. At that event Eastern Illinois announced the ten members of its All-Century team along with six all-time great teams.
Throughout the 2009-10 basketball season, Panther athletics will hold several different events to mark the 100 year event. The season long celebration will culminate on Feb. 26-27, 2010 in a two-day event. The two-day event will kick off with a 100-year celebration Fan Fest that will take place in McAfee Gym starting at 7 p.m. On Saturday afternoon, Feb. 27, EIU will honor all former men’s basketball players at a 100-year banquet. On Saturday night, Feb. 27, Eastern Illinois will close out the 2010 regular season against Tennessee State at 6 p.m.
