2008: Wright played in 28 games and started five times, including the season opener… led the team with three hits as a pinch hitter… collected four of his nine hits with runners in scoring position… enjoyed a productive spring break, going 5-for-9 with a double and two RBIs… posted a three-hit game and knocked in a pair of runs during the five-run fifth inning of the second of the two win against Bucknell on the spring break trip… registered a pinch hit single in back-to-back games against Samford and Southeast Missouri.

HIGH SCHOOL: Wright was a four-year varsity letter-winner for coach Nic DiFilippo at Mahomet-Seymour High School… also played three years of varsity basketball… Champaign News-Gazette Area Player of the Year as a senior… team MVP both of his upperclassman seasons after earning most-improved honors as a freshman… team captain in both baseball and basketball and Bulldog award winner as a senior… First Team All-Corn Belt Conference outfielder and pitcher as a senior… Bloomington Pantagraph Intercity vs. Area All-Star… first team all-area pitcher and outfielder in 2007… second team all-area pick in basketball… won the Jack Donovan Memorial award (for most outstanding first-year player) in the summer of 2006… helped lead MSHS to the 2007 regional baseball championship, pitching a no-hitter in the championship game… also played for the American Legion Post 24 team based in Champaign.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was pitching a no-hitter in the regional championship against Champaign Centennial High… former Houston Astros All-Star Craig Biggio has been a major influence on his sports career… most admires coach DiFilippo because "he’s the most athletic and knowledge coach I’ve ever had. He helped me develop my confidence and ability"… also credits his youth coach Terry Green for "showing me the right way to play sports"… son of Mike and Laurie Wright… MAJOR: Psychology.
