CAREER STATS

SENIOR (2017): Made 13 appearances with three starts on the mound as a senior... finished the year with a record of 2-1 and an ERA of 6.89... struck out 18 batters in 31 1/3 innings pitched... made first appearance of the season on Feb. 18 at South Alabama... earned first win of the season in his first start on Mar. 29 against Southern Illinois... threw six inning while only allowing two runs... posted second win of the season on May 16 at Butler... threw 6 1/3 scoreless inning of relief while only surrendering four hits... made final appearance of his career on May 19 against Austin Peay... threw 5 1/3 innings of relief while only allowing two run... finished the game with five strikeouts, including striking out the first four batters he saw... finished his career with 75 appearances which is the seventh-most in program history... EIU Presidential Award for academics... 

JUNIOR (2016): Went 2-5 with a 7.93 ERA in 20 appearances (six starts)... first appearance on Feb. 20 at Southern Miss where he threw a scoreless inning... first start on Apr. 12 at Southern Illinois... picked up first win of the season on May 7 against Morehead State where he allowed just two runs in 7.0 innings pitched... earned second win of the season in 4.0 innings of relief against SIUE on May 21... season high six strikeouts at Southeast Missouri on Apr. 15... OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

SOPHOMORE (2015): Appeared in 25 games all out of the bullpen... became team's closer midway through the season leading team with five saves which ranked seventh in the OVC... posted a 2-3 record with a 4.26 ERA... pitched 38 innings with 31 strikeouts... picked up first save on April 8 against Indiana State... had first win on April 11 against Southeast Missouri... second win was April 17 at Belmont... during mid-April had six straight appearances without allowing a run covering 11.1 innings of relief...

FRESHMAN (2014): Went 0-4 with a 10.80 ERA in 17 appearances (three starts)… had 20 strikeouts and one save in 28.1 innings of work… posted his first career save at Murray State on April 6… made his first career start at No.7 Vanderbilt on March 11.

HIGH SCHOOL: Tabbed to the All-Big 12 Conference First Team as a junior… was named an Illinois State Scholar Athlete in 2011 and 2012… went 7-4 from the mound in 15 appearances as a junior… also posted a 2.39 ERA with 70 strikeouts… had a .393 batting average in the spring of 2012 with 25 runs and 17 RBI.
 
PERSONAL: Son of John Thurston and Alissa Wright… cousin Tyler Cox played at Illinois State (2008-10) and was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008.
