Biography

2010: Restko played in 41 games and started 35 times… was the only player to start at least once in all three outfield positions, but made the majority of his starts in right field (20)… batted leadoff a team-high 21 times, EIU posting an 11-10 record in games he led off… missed nine games late in the year after getting hit in the face with a pitch while leading off the Missouri game but returned for the final weekend of the regular-season… was the most difficult Panther to strikeout, fanning only 13 times in 155 plate appearances… batted .328 in conference play… batted .310 with runners in scoring position… hit safely in the first 13 games after the team returned from the spring break trip, posting the longest streak of his career and the second longest by a Panther in 2010… posted eight multi-hit games, including a stretch of five straight, during his hit streak… batted a team-best .333 in March… went 11-for-27 with four free passes during the seven-game homestand, hitting safely in all seven games… batted .325 at Coaches Stadium, striking out only twice in 47 plate appearances… hit safely in all three games of the Eastern Kentucky, Austin Peay and Morehead State series… delivered a two-run double in the series finale at Belmont… highlighted by a two-run double, recorded a season-high three RBIs against Indiana on the spring break trip… had multiple hits in all three games of the Eastern Kentucky series, finishing the OVC-opening set 7-for-13 with three runs scored… hit a game-tying solo homer in the seventh inning of the finale of EKU series… went 5-for-11 in the Austin Peay series and 5-for-13 in the Morehead State series… scored three times in the Southeast Missouri doubleheader, his first action back from injury… tied an EIU single-game record with seven in at-bats in the OVC Tournament win against Southeast Missouri.

2009: Restko played in 47 games and started 43 times in left field… led the team six stolen bases and 12 sacrifice bunts… also reached safely on an error a team-high 12 times… drew 20 free passes (11 walks, nine hit by pitch)… was 5-for-9 with the bases loaded… batted .380 with runners in scoring position and recorded 11 of his 27 RBIs with two outs… with a runner on third and less than two outs, registered an RBI in 14 of his 16 opportunities… posted a 10-game hitting streak from Feb. 27 to March 17, posting seven multi-hit efforts… batted .346 with 17 runs scored at home… batted .452 (14-for-31) in neutral-site action… scored 15 times and batted .400 in the month of March… went 13-for-29 with six RBIs on the spring break trip… batted .359 with 15 runs scored in midweek action… delivered a walk-off single with one-out in the ninth inning of the Feb. 28 win against Butler… went 3-for-3 and reached base safely four times in the win against Indiana, scoring the go-ahead run in the eighth inning… doubled twice and recorded a career-high five RBIs in the home win against Chicago State… had three hits and scored four times in the victory against Indiana State… connected for a solo homer against Blackburn College... 2008:
Restko played in 54 games and started 51 times, all in left field… batted in a team-high six different spots in the lineup, all but third through fifth… started all 26 OVC games, one of just three Panthers to do so… ranked as the toughest player to strikeout in the OVC, fanning just once every 18.4 at-bats… one of four Panthers that walked more than he struck out… add up his free passes (23) and a team-high nine sacrifice bunts, and he struck out only once every 21.6 plate appearances… struck out just once in 63 April at-bats… went 62 at-bats and 76 plate appearances without a strikeout until the streak was ended by OVC Pitcher of the Year Christian Friedrich on May 16… batted .345 (30-for-87) in OVC play while striking out just four times in 87 at-bats… excelled at the plate with runners on base, batting .396 (38-for-96) with runners on and .364 (20-for-55) with runners in scoring position… went 5-for-6 in the sweep-completing win against Morehead State, posting the only five-hit game by a Panther in 2008 and first since May ‘06… did not strikeout in 66 home at-bats while batting .318 (21-for-66)… batted over .300 in March (.333, 19-for-57) and May (.315, 17-for-54)… hit safely in all three games of the Murray State and Southeast Missouri series… went 9-for-25 with four RBIs and five runs scored while not striking out during the spring break trip… struck out just once in the 11 post-spring break midweek games… went 4-for-21 with six runs scored in the postseason… cemented his place in starting lineup with a combined 6-for-10, four-RBI performance in the first two wins of the year… recorded four hits, including a key two-run double in the five-run fifth inning, in the victory against IPFW… scored three times to go along with his five-hit effort in the finale of the Morehead series… hit safely in seven straight games in mid-April, batting .344 (11-for-32) with 11 runs scored during the streak… after collecting three hits in game one of the Southeast Missouri doubleheader, hit a big two-run homer during EIU’s five-run third inning in the nightcap… ignited the walk-off rally in the rubber game of the SEMO series with a leadoff single in the ninth inning… reached base safely twice and knocked in a pair of runs during the 10-run sixth inning in the win over Evansville… knocked in EIU’s first run with a base hit in the NCAA Regional game against Oral Roberts… also singled in front of Brett Nommensen’s two-run homer against ORU… Top 100 National Rankings: 22nd in toughest to strikeout.

2007: He played in 19 games and started three times in left field… four of his seven hits went for extra bases… went 4-for-10 with five RBIs in May… five of his six RBIs came in true road games… his first career hit was a solo home run in the Olivet Nazarene win… also went deep, connecting for a two-run shot, at Chicago State… went 2-for-5 with a double and run scored versus Millikin… delivered a pinch-hit RBI single that knocked in a key insurance run in the ninth inning of the opening game of the Morehead State series… started the season finale and went 2-for-6 with a two-run double and a run scored.

HIGH SCHOOL: He lettered in baseball and football for coach Frank Ganser… earned All-SICA Gray Conference honors in both baseball and football, while serving as the team captain for both as a senior… set a school record for the longest touchdown run from the line of scrimmage… as a junior, Andrew went 9-0 to win the SICA Gray Conference… played for the Chicago Shooters summer team.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was winning the 2008 OVC Tournament title… his brother has been a major influence on his sports career because "he's in the minor leagues and is the one I turn to to talk about anything"… most admires Derek Jeter because "he is the best captain a team can have"… his brother J.T. currently plays in the Texas Rangers' minor league system… son of Gary and Michelle RestkoMAJOR: Family and Consumer Sciences (Hospitality Management).
