HIGH SCHOOL: Played for coach Hank Carter at nationally ranked Lake Travis HS in Austin, Texas… team was ranked first in the state of Texas and sixth in the nation by USA Today with a 16-0 record… had 87 tackles including 56 solo tackles with 11 sacks, 26 tackles for loss and four forced fumbles… as a junior he had 66 tackles with 10 sacks… was a member of three straight state championship teams earning championship game MVP honors as a senior… Lake Travis HS has won five straight Texas State titles… also an all-conference right handed pitcher…
