EASTERN ILLINOIS: Appeared in four meets for cross country in 2007... top finish was 42nd at Belmont Open... best time was 27:55.12 at EIU Panther Open... competed in 2008 indoor and outdoor trackk seasons running 1,500m, 3,000m and 5,000m races... redshirted at EIU in 2006 for cross country... competed in indoor and outdoor track
High School: Nic was all state in track and field his senior year in the 4x800 relay (9th) and the 4x400 relay (5th)…was a member of state qualifying cross country teams in 2003 and 2004…earned eight varsity letters in cross country (3), track and field (3) and basketball (2).
Personal: Is majoring in accounting…No.1 sports highlight was being a part of three sectional championship teams his senior year of high school…son of Rick and Nancy Atkinson…Nic’s brother Nate Atkinson currently competes in track and field for EIU, and brother Andy Atkinson played golf at St. Johns University (MN).
