Biography


2011-12:  Did not see any action on the links in either the fall or spring seasons of his junior campaign.

2010-11:  Ended his sophomore campaign with a 79.9 stroke average... saw limited action with seven rounds of play in three events, one in the fall and a pair in the spring... had a season-best 17th place finish at the Butler Florida Invite.

2009-10: Competed in just one event over the course of the year... tying for 87th place at the Illinois State Intercollegiate during the fall portion of the season... the Barrington native ended with a three-round 83.0 average.

HS:  Played for coach Mike Kallenbach at Barrington HS... four-time letterwinner... named All-Conference and All-Area... his squad advanced to play at the IHSA 3A state tournament.

PERSONAL:  Majoring in business management... son of Daniel & Adelle Smyczynski... no. 1 sports highlight was "being the first alternate at the U.S. Amateur in 2009"... credits his father for having the biggest influence on his sports career, "because he has helped me grow in the game of golf and in my life and has supported me in everything I do."

OFF THE LINKS WITH TRAVIS:  Besides golf, 'Trav' also enjoys playing hockey... will eat most anything but shrimip, lobster or pasta... can't go anywhere without his phone... favorite tv show is Two and a Half Men... his family owns a labradoodle named 'Sutter'... would love the chance to meet Tiger Woods... since coming to EIU he has learned "a lot about myself"... his favorite building on campus is his apartment... his advice to a younger athlete is "work as hard as you can to achieve the level you want to get to"... his favorite quote comes via Tiger Woods -- "second is the first loser"... goals he hopes to achieve at EIU include 'earning a GPA of 3.0 or higher and to win the conference tournament."
