2014-15 Men's Swimming Roster
Biography
2014-15 ... Saw action eight different individual events during his final season as a Panther as a sophomore... set season-best marks in the 50-Free, 100/200-Breasts and 100-Fly at the end-of-season league meet... held season Top 3 marks in four events... also swam third leg of the 400-Free Relay.
2013-14 ... Added his name to the EIU record book as a true freshman as he now owns the 10th best time in the 100-Breast, which he achieved at the end-of-season Summit League meet... also saw action in numerous other races, including the 50 Free, 100-Back, and a pair of Fly and IM events.
HIGH SCHOOL ... Three-sport athlete for coaches Jason Drury and Nicole Hendry at Sullivan HS... earned a trio of letters in swimming and cross country, in addition to scholastic bowl... also a letterwinner for one season as a member of the track team... set school marks in both the 100-Breast and 100-Fly while at SHS... three year member of the High Honor Roll... earned All-Area honorable mention as well as advancing to the state meet.
PERSONAL ... Planning on majoring in biology... son of Scott & Tonya Bales... credits his parents for having a big influence on his sports career, "because they have motivated me to stick with swimming throughout high school... plus my coaches have done a good job keeping me in the sport as well."
OUT OF THE WATER WITH BROCK ... 'Brockoli' chose EIU, "because it is close enough to my hometown, but still has everything a bigger sized uniersity has... the team is close-knit and the coaches are extremely nice and experienced"... currently driving a 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac... besides spending time in the time, also likes music, playing guitar, eating, and hanging with friends... loves to dine on pizza, mac 'n cheese and Mexican, but doesn't care for seafood... would love to meet actor Matt Damon... would love to be able to switch places with Will Ferrell for a day... since coming to EIU he has learned "that swimming at the collegiate level will be more challenging but also more fun than I thought"... he can't go anywhere without his cell phone... wishes he could bring his own bed and his grandma's cooking to EIU from home... his advice to a younger athlete would be "to stick with the sport you're best at and work hard at it"... his No. 1 personal goal is "to go to the 2016 Olympic trials."
