2008: Welsch played in four games, seeing action in home games against Central Arkansas and Evansville and road games at Wright State and Drake… assisted on Brad Peters’ second goal against UCA shortly after entering the game… played a season-high 22 minutes at nationally-ranked Drake.

 

2007: Welsch redshirted during his first year with the program.

 

HIGH SCHOOL: He was a three-year letter-winner for coach Eric Willson, a former Panther… also lettered three times in basketball and once in volleyball… St. Charles Republican All-Area... All-Upstate Eight Conference… all-sectional… captained St. Charles North to the Elite Eight round of the IHSA playoffs as a senior… his team won sectionals his junior year… also played for the Fox Valley Strikers club team… honor roll student, physical education and adaptive PE leader, and student council member… earned the rising star award as a junior.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was connecting on a penalty kick for the winning score in the regionals of the IHSA playoffs… coach Wilson as well as his childhood coach Bernie Kehoe, teammate and fellow St. Charles native Darby’s father, have been a major influence on his sports career… most admires former Stanford midfielder and St. Charles native Derek Shanahan… his uncle Steve played football at the University of Texas and his uncle John played hockey at Notre Dame... son of Stephen and Cynthia Welsch… MAJOR: Kinesiology and Sports Studies.
