Biography

2009: Bonacker played in 10 games and started the contest at Bradley… logged a season-high 79 minutes that night in Peoria… played 71 minutes off the bench in the loss to Memphis… saw action in seven of the nine Valley games.

2008:
Bonacker played in 17 games and started the first 16 matches of the year… assisted on Brad Peters’ third goal in the win at Wright State… one of three EIU field players that was not issued a yellow card… ranked seventh on the team in minutes played (1,379)… went the distance in eight games, including a stretch of 315 consecutive minutes played… logged a season-high 100 minutes twice, in the consecutive draws at Western Illinois and vs. Oral Roberts… will enter his senior year having started 52 of the 55 games he has played in at Eastern.
 
2007: Bonacker started all 20 games he played in… an injury early in the MVC Tournament win against Drake caused him to miss the semifinal contest against Bradley, the only match of the year he missed… ranked fifth on the team in minutes played (1,703), but was third before the injury at the tournament… posted the longest consecutive minutes played streak on the team, logging 935 straight between Sept. 19 and Oct. 27… went the distance 13 times total… helped EIU post a shutout streak of 436 minutes early in the season and eight shutouts total, a new program record in the Valley era… assisted on three scores: Alex Harrison’s goal at Loyola, Brad Peters’ second goal against Missouri State, and Jeff Kupiec’s goal at Evansville… teed up the majority of the corner kicks EIU was awarded.
 
2006: He played in 18 games and started 16, including five of the six Valley contests… key component of an EIU defense that shutout seven opponents and surrendered just six goals in Valley play… registered two of his three shots at Wright State, putting one on goal.
 
HIGH SCHOOL: He was a four-year letter-winner for coach Bill Goggin… Suburban South Conference Player of the Year as a senior… also a three-time First Team All-Conference selection… St. Louis Post-Dispatch Third Team All-Metro… team captain as a senior… three-time Lou Fusz state champion (2000-02)… 2000 regional champs… 2003 Eureka district champions… also played for the Busch Soccer Club.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was winning the district championship his freshman year of high school… his former coach Don Popovic has been a major influence on his sports career because “he’s a good coach and pushed me to do better”… most admires U.S. National Team and MLS great Jeff Agoos... son of Gary Bonacker and Mary CooperMAJOR: Kinesiology and Sports Studies.
