Biography

2008: Mabeya played in 17 games and started the first 15 games of the year… his consecutive games started streak ended at 26 when he came off the bench in the loss to Evansville… ranked eighth on the team in minutes (1,329), going the distance 10 times… averaged 78 minutes per game... logged 424 consecutive minutes during one stretch of the season… played a season-high 110 minutes in the draw at Northern Illinois.
 
2007: Mabeya played in all 21 games and started 13 times, including the final 11 contests of the year… also started the season and home openers… assisted on Chris Pearson’s goal against Bradley and Alex Harrison’s overtime game-winner at Asbury College… registered nine of his 22 shots in the final four games of the season… averaged 85 minutes per game while starting the final 11 matches … went the distance six times, including a season-high 110 minutes on three occasions… helped EIU post a shutout streak of 436 minutes early in the season and eight shutouts total, a new program record in the Valley era.
 
JUNIOR COLLEGE: He was an NSCAA All-America selection in 2006 at Parkland College in Champaign, Ill. for head coach Mark Sikora… also a two-time All-Region 24 regular-season and playoff honoree... HIGH SCHOOL: He attended the Institute Commercial Lemba school in Kinshasa of the Democratic Republic of the Congo… also played for Simba, a Congolese community team... located on the south bank of the Congo River, Kinshasa is the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is the third largest country in Africa… Paris is the only larger French-speaking city in the world.

PERSONAL: No. 1 sports highlight was earning All-American honors at Parkland… coach Sikora has been a major influence on his sports career because “he built me up as a player and helped me to establish my personality on the field”… most admires Argentine great Diego Maradona because “he is one of the best international players ever”… enjoys music and writing and likes pizza, pasta and lasagna… son of Simmy MabeyaMAJOR: Kinesiology and Sports Studies.
