Biography


2012-13 ... All-Summit League honoree as a senior member of the 400-Free Relay squad that placed third at the end-of-season conference meet... competed in several freestyle, back and IM events... improved his Top 10 marks in both the 100 & 200-Backs and 200 & 400-IMs at the same Summit League event... his 1:50.62 time in the prelims of the 200-Back now ranks as the second fastest time in the EIU record books.

2011-12 ... Had a fine junior campaign as he bested a pair of his EIU Top 10 times in both the 200-Back and 200-IM events at the Summit League meet... which included now owning the third fastest time in the 200-Backhad a busy season in the pool as he also saw action in seven additional events, including nearly every Free and Back event... four of his season best times came at the end-of-season league meet... he ended the campaign with the fastest team time in the 200-Back and 400-IM, while owning the second best finish in the 200-IM and 50-Back... also a key member of the 400-Free and 800-Free Relay units.

2010-11 ... At the end-of-season Summit League meet, earned new personal bests and Top 10 EIU ranks in both his 200-Back and 400-IM events to rank third and fourth all-time, respectively, in the record books… participated in eight individual events total with the addition of swims in the 200/500/ 1000-Free, 50/100-Back, and 200-IM.

2009-10 ... As a freshman earned the seventh fastest EIU time in the 200-Back and 400-IM and ninth quickest finish in the 200-IM… also saw action in both the 200/500-Free, 50/100-Back, and 200-IM.

HIGH SCHOOL ... Earned letter honors as a four-year member of the Newton HS swim team for coach Phil Schmidt... four-year member of the Honor Roll... elected as class vice-present... earned United State Swimming Academic All-American kudos... member of the Wichita Swim Club... number one sports highlight was “being able to compete with all three of my older brothers in my career”... credits his parents and brothers for having the biggest influence on his sports career “because they instilled hard work into my personality and always showed encouragement and support”... admires his former coaches, Eric Nelson and Scott Berry, “because they helped guide me throughout my career and helped me become the swimmer that I am today."

PERSONAL ... Majoring in journalism... son of Cleo & Faye Koop… born on August 22... No. 1 Sports highlight was ‘going to swim meets when the whole family still swam”… credits his family for having the biggest influence on his sports career “because they encourage me to work hard.”

OUT OF THE WATER WITH CHACOUR ... ‘Chac’ choose to come to EIU, “because it is a smaller Division I school with a small town feel”… also enjoys playing basketball, hanging with friends and going to concerts… would like to meet Clint Eastwood… favorite tv show is The Office… his family pet is Hershey, the black lab… can’t go anywhere without his phone… one of his personal goals while at EIU is “to help the team get better”… his advice to a younger swimmer is “to work hard”… favorite building on campus is Booth Library.
