Biography


2012-13 ... Earned All-Summit League honors during his senior season as a member of the second place 200-Free Relay foursome at the conference meet, as he swam the third leg... set a new EIU school record in the 200-Fly with a fifth place prelim time of 1:53.28 at the Summit League meet, which naturally also improved his previous Top 10 mark... also improved his EIU mark in the 100-Fly to now own the second fastest finish in school history.

2011-12 ... Saw action in five events, including 50, 100 and 200-Free and both the 100 and 200-Fly swims... earned three top times at the Summit League meet... time-wise, he led all EIU swimmers in the 200-Fly at that end-of-season event... also recorded second fasted finish in the 100-Fly and third best in the 50-Free sprint... also swam the second leg in the 200-Free, 400-Free and 800-Free Relays at several points in the season.

2010-11 ... Competed in eight events, including four Freestyle events, three Fly and the 200-IM… his time in the 100-Fly at the end-of-season Summit League meet granted him the eighth best Panther finish in the record books… also had the third fastest season time in the 200-Fly.

2009-10 ... His time in the 200-Fly came less than a second away from a new school record to give him with the second best mark by a Panther… also swam in the 50, 200, and 500-Free, 100-Fly, and both the 200/400-IM events.

HIGH SCHOOL ... Swam for coach Steve Riggs at Edmond Memorial HS in Oklahoma... earned four consecutive letters as a member of both the swim and cross country squads... earned Oklahoma Coaches Association All-State honors his senior year... and a three-time member of the All-City Edmond Swim Team... named to the All-Oklahoma City Swim Team by the Daily Oklahoman in 2008-09... his senior year named as the team’s Most All-Around Swimmer... also elected team captain in his final season... member of the 200-Free Relay squad that set a new school record mark... Edmond Memorial were three-time Oklahoma Mid-State Conference Champions from 2006-09, earning an Oklahoma State Runner-Up Trophy in 2006... also an Academic All-American... swam for the Chesapeake Swim Club... number one sports highlight was “placing second at the Oklahoma State meet in the 200-IM”... credits his brother and sister, who were members of the Missouri University of Science & Technology and Evansville collegiate teams, for being a major influence in his sports career “because they always pushed me to work and compete hard in practice and at meets.”

PERSONAL ... Majoring in business management... son of Peter & Kathy Enge... born on April 16.

OUT OF THE WATER WITH DAN ... ‘Dan the Man’ chose EIU “because of the business program and I thought that the swim team was a good fit for me”… credits the coaching staff’s energy and determination as a reason for EIU having an advantage over other schools… enjoys playing basketball and tennis, as well as reading, video games and watching tv… currently driving a 2002 Dodge Stratus… enjoys dining on beef stroganoff, but dislikes bean soup… would like to get a chance to meet Jerry Seinfeld… recently enjoyed taking Professor Craig’s weather and climate class here at EIU… since coming to EIU he has learned “how to be more organized”… his advice for a young swimmer would be “not to get discouraged and keep working hard”… one of his goals while at EIU include “placing top three at the Summit League Conference meet.
