2009-10: Earned Summit League ‘Swimmer of the Week’ honors following his first meet as a Panther in late October of 2009 as EIU downed Evansville in the squad’s season opener... he placed first in both the 100 and 200-Free, while also swimming the first leg of the first place 400-Free Relay unit... already earned a spot in the EIU Top 10 list in the 200-IM, which he set at the Tunica Invite.... 

PREP: While at St. Charles East HS he earned three letters as a swimmer and one as a member of the water polo squad... coached by both Joe Cable and Dave Bart... was a five-time All-American, two-time All-State, and two-time All-Conference honoree... elected as the team capatin his senior year... as a junior he placed sixth at the IHSA state meet in the 100-Breast... while earning a seventh place honor in the 50-Free and 100-Breast at the state meet his senior year... during the summer he swam for the St. Charles club squad... credits his high school coach, Joe Cable, for having a major influence in his sports career “because he has been my coach since I was eight years old and has taught me everything I know about swimming”... admires both coach Cable and coach Bart “for pushing me extremely hard in the water, which helped me become the swimmer I am today”....
