Biography


2012:  Had five appearances in the circle where she retired five batters via strikes... assisted in a shutout... allowed just one earned run in limited action.

2011:  Saw action in 11 games, including two appearances in the pitching circle... earned one strikeout, no walks and allowed zer hits but three hits off four total innings of work... the opposition hit .200 against her... had nine at-bats, where she connected on four hits, including an RBI at Eastern Kentucky... twice touched home plate for an EIU score as well.

2010: Ended her first season as a Panther pitcher with a 2-3 overall mark... tallied 14 total strikeouts and added 12 walks... finished with a 5.83 ERA off 30.0 total innings of work.

HS: Played for coaches Corey Katzer and J.R. Daugherty at Ottawa HS... earning five varsity letters as a member of the softball and basketball squads... also played volleyball... Ottawa finished with 5A Kansas State Runner-Up honors... earned 2009 First Team All-State honors... named to the 2009 All-State squad as a pitcher... also earned first team all-league kudos twice, while also being tabbed to the 2008 High School All-Area First Team squad... graduated from Ottawa HS with magna cum laude honors... played summer ball for the Olathe Rockets 18U Gold team.

PERSONAL: Majoring in business, with a minor in Spanish... daughter of Todd & Amy Ray... No. 1 sports highlight was “going to state my senior year in high school where we placed second”... her parents have had a major influence on her sports career, “because they always paid for me to have nice equipment and to be on expensive training teams... plus they also spent many hours driving me to all my practices and games.” 

OFF THE FIELD WITH HAILIE:  ‘HayRay’ chose EIU “because I loved the campus & for the amazing coaches and teammates”... favorite tv show and movie are That 70’s Show & Pride & Prejudice, respectively... hobbies include reading and cooking... her favorite food is Chinese... while her favorite building on campus is Booth Library... her family owns a border collie named 'Fergie'... favorite recording artist is Lady Gaga... advice she'd give to a younger athlete is “work hard, but always have fun”... since coming to EIU she's learned “that studying is really important and procrastination makes school a million times harder”... some goals she hopes to achieve while at EIU include “getting good grades and to be successful in softball.”
