Biography


2013:  Earned 17 starrs at left field as a junior, while playing in 34 games total... battling most of the year in the No. 7 finished with nine runs off seven hits, including a pair of doubles... secured five RBI while going 1-for-2 in stolen bases... set a personal best mark for runs scored as she touched home three times at SEMO... earned her first sac fly RBI versus Buffalo... tied her putout tally with four catches in EIU's road sweep of Austin Peay... OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll, including Medalist honors.

2012:  Saw action in 38 games, mostly playing either at left or right field... twice set new personal stolen bases numbers with a pair at both SEMO and Samford... earned a new personal best assist tally with two at home against IUPUI... hit .237 on the year behind 22 hits, which included two doubles, touching home nine times... went 6-for-9 in total base thefts... OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll, including Medalist honors.

2011:  Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference ... OVC All-Newcomer Team ... had a standout freshman season, finishing third on the squad in hitting with a .321 mark, which included 44 hits, nine coming in extra-bases... nailed five doubles and four homers as she earned 21 runs, 28 RBI and 61 total bases... finished with a nearly perfect stolen base record going 6-8 in thefts, including a pair in a loss at SEMO... earned five game-winning hits... had a career-best six RBI game as EIU earned a series sweep of league power EKU... enjoyed a six-game hitting streak at one poitn in the season... while also recording 10 total multi-hit games and seven multiple RBI contests... in 43 of her 46 total games played as a true freshman, she could be found out in right field, while she mostly batted in the fifth spot... OVC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

HS:  Four-year letterwinner in softball and a two-year earner in volleyball at Carl Sandburg HS in Orland Park... played for coach Jim Fabianski... as a junior, she was named All-Conference and SEcond Team All-Area... also voted MVP by her teammates... member of the Carl Sanburg squad won the 4A IHSA State softball championship... also a member of the National Honor Society.

PERSONAL:  The daughter of Mark & Cindy Biel... credits her father for having the biggest influence in her sports career, “because he has been my biggest fan and support... he is the one that has pushed me to be as good as I am today”... winning the state softball championship as a senior is her No. 1 personal sports highlight thus far... member of the Beverly Bandits club team.

OFF THE FIELD WITH MORGAN:  ‘Lil Red’ plans on majoring in middle school education while at EIU... Morgan chose EIU “because I loved the campus... it felt like home... has a great teaching program and the girls and coaches are like one big family”... other than softball she also enjoys dancing, playing volleyball and soccer... one of her special hidden talents is that she can do a handstand for a really long time... currently driving a Ford Escort... her favorite food is fettuccini alfredo, but she dislikes green vegetables... her family has a dog named ‘Boomer’... has already enjoyed taking EIU Instructor Misty Roads’ class “Intro to Health”... since coming to EIU, she has learned “that time management is everything”... if she could bring anything from her hometown to EIU, it would be “my shower”... her advice to a younger athlete is “it takes hard work and dedication”... her career goal is to “become a junior high science teacher.”
